What's happening?

Damn

I’ve been dreading these days for many years now. in my late teens, my mother was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Fortunately for us, she was under the care from one of the best in the world and was privy to some experimental drugs early on. Most people last under 3 years. my mother is going to hit 30yrs pretty quickly.

Time, it’s the most valuable commodity we have and one we have no control over…except how we use it. I hope you get as much of it as you can, it’s very precious.

My wife lost both her parents within 6 months, in 2019. Changed a lot of things in our life.

@Kopstar take care! And hope you get to have plenty more memories with your Dad.

I lost mine when has was just 61, 14 years ago. He was wheeled in for a supposed simple surgery in the morning and we were waiting for him at the waiting room and few hours later we lost him in the surgery. Life is so unpredictable and not spending more time with my parents will always be something I will regret my whole life.

I was told on Tuesday that my wife had had severe vasospams, which lead to a massive stroke on the left side of her brain. They’re currently trying their best to try to prevent further strokes. If that happens I was told by the doctors we would need to have “the talk”. She’s still in coma and will be for at least the next 10 days.

Stay strong mate. Try and keep yourself occupied, it’s awful when you’re powerless.

Intermittent power cuts, surely due to nuclear power stations being shut off (due to water temperatures being too high) and switching to another source. 02hrs 30 is no joke when your night watchman at a hotel.
More annoying is repeated blackouts every few seconds on your days/nights off when your trying to listen to music. Turned it off so as not to blow anything and am extremely annoyed.

We are having regular power cuts too. At least twice on weekdays.

Latest mission. Get this ugly duck back up and running.

I’m eye-fucking this car that’s for sale right now. Not the Tiger, it’s the Alpine … Already warned the wife I may buy it though. Seems underpriced at $6k… Needs a bit of work

What work if I may ask?

The famous last word: “Needs a bit of work”.

“needs a bit of work”

I hope the wife doesn’t plan on spending money any time soon

Owner told me a few things about it, I haven’t gone for a look yet but it’s stored under cover in dry so I’m hoping it’s not rusted out.

likely an engine rebuild, it’s burning oil as all older motors do. Trunk needs a repaint and has a few dents on the drivers side rear fin. seats are ageing, looks from the pics like a few other things and I’d need to get the spoke wheels trued if I decided to keep them.

My first car was a 73 MGB. my Dad just bought an 80 MGB last week for his retirement. I miss them.

Cross fingers for you. Give me an older car over anything post 1996.

I’ve got a bit of everything to do on the bucket above. Only question is do I push my luck with the bodywork needed now or put it off a bit.

It hasn’t even got wheels on it.

Lots of sad news in this thread so hopefully this is a diversion that can help people chuckle…

I’ve been fighting the reality that I’m at an age where my eyesight is not what it was. Last night I lay in bed trying to read and couldn’t make out a single word and so finally accepted I need to get reading glasses. I pulled out my tablet and found an app that scans your face to recommend the right frame style to suit its shape. It scans your face, asks you to rotate your head, put things next to it to gauge perspective and then does some AI magic and shows you an image of what you would look like in their recommended frames. This is what it recommended for me…

Just seen some of the posts here. :slightly_frowning_face:

@anon27364116, my thoughts and prayers with your wife pulls this awful phase, never give up on hope and stay strong for the family. I hope she comes out of the coma soon and the specialist stroke team find the best treatment to get her better. Take care of yourself too.

@Kopstar, so sorry to hear about your Dad, it is always difficult to hear devastating news of your close loved ones. I hope your Dad has a painless, peaceful journey. I hope you get to spend as much time with him as you can, it will help, but the pain always stays in your heart somehow. Stay strong for the family.

I just feel too sad hearing this news.
