Who do you wish to sell

There are a bunch of senior squad players almost certain to leave by the end of the season:

Karius FREE
Adrian retirement!
Neco
Nat
Ben
Milner retirement!
Ox
Origi FREE

However, their departure hardly creates any space for new blood. But this clearing-out is necessary for the rebuilding. We have already extended the contracts of Alisson (2027), Robertson, Fabinho, Kelleher (all 2026), Trent, VVD, and Henderson (all 2025). Contract situations of other senior players:

2023

Naby KeĆÆta (27)
Mohamed Salah (almost 30)
Sadio ManƩ (30)
Roberto Firmino (30)

2024

Joe Gomez (almost 25)
Joel Matip (30)
Thiago (31)
Takumi Minamino (27)

2025

Konstantinos Tsimikas (almost 26)
Curtis Jones (21)
Diogo Jota (25)

2026

Ibrahima KonatƩ (almost 23)
Harvey Elliott (19)

2027

Luis DĆaz (25)

Looking at that list, Naby KeĆÆta and Takumi Minamino may leave too. KeĆÆta is a great talent, no doubt whatsoever.

2018/19: 33 games, 1817 mins
2019/20: 27 games, 1395 mins
2020/21: 16 games, 714 mins

Even in a quadruple chasing season, he has clocked just 1662 mins. By comparison, VVD has clocked 4080 mins, and Henderson has clocked 3342 mins. If thereā€™s a doubt that he will never be a regular, itā€™s not unjustified. Minamino is a great character and a decent player. But going forward, we need players who can fill the gaps left by the THREE and Minamino is definitely not up to that standard.

I cannot see that at all. We need to establish the eventual replacements for Thiago and Hendo. With someone like an in form and fit Naby around that is something we can be patient with. We can give the likes of Elliot and Jones time to see if they can grow into the role, or we can target a replacement in the market who isnt needed to perform at that level immediately. If we let Naby leave, all of a sudden its 3 of the 4 most common midfielder starters who need replacing.

My response is not based on who I wish to sell but who I expect to leave and the conditions.

Karius - dont care
Adrian - stay unless wants to leave
Gomez - I want to stay unless he wants to leave
Phillips - leave
Ox - leave, I think Klopp/team would like him to stay as he seems a good personality and is a very good player, unfortunately, the situation we are in doesnā€™t allow a regular run of games. Would take the money.
Curtis Jones - talented player and IMO unfairly judged by some people. I would like to see him have another season or two, however, if we can get good money for him, he wants to move on then so be it.
Origi - most likely will leave, I wish him all the best.
Minamino - was very optimistic when he signed him, after his performances against us but seems appears abit light weight for the PL, I would cash in if a good offer comes in. Happy if he stays.
Milner - Stay, unless he seeks out.
Neco - expect him to be sold. Feel he has been unfairly criticised by some and has potential to have a very successful career in Football. However, he is not going to get many games and we and we can utilise other players in this role.

I do not expect any other squad players to leave, admittedly iv probably forgot someone. Rhys Williams will continue to develop on loan or in the U23ā€™s until we can sell him and Elliott/Gordon will be used more often in rotation with Mbappe

I think the rumours suggest we will be looking in CM and RB which suggests Neco is off and probably with an eye on those in the middle.

I wonder if Elliott is developed further forward or Klopp will look at Kaide Gordon as a 6th option, then again Carvalho is likely and could be used further up as well.

Everyone should stay unless we decide they can leave.

Gomez has just spent two year rehabbing from injury, getting paid Ā£100k a week to do so. I feel he owes the club.

Wait, 100K!?! Crikey he did well to negotiate that.

JoGo and Virgil were a brilliant CB partnership and at time it was JoGo who was the hero - no way he didnā€™t deserve* 100k week

Gomez had his setbacks due to injuries but it was always clear Matip would start most games when he was fit. Excepting this season , Matip wasnt fit for most of the others.

Konate might have jumped ahead of him as well now.

I cannot think of a single player Iā€™d want rid of.

JK knows what heā€™s doing when it comes to putting together a squad.

Not even Karius?

Said this a number of times on the buying threads, I trust our manager and set up to deliver. I knew very little about Diaz but he comes in and looks like he has been here years.

Ahā€¦yeahā€¦

Had forgotten about Loris.

Even LFC wish they could forget about him.

Just get rid of Karius, Adrian, Ox-Chamberlain, Phillips, R Williams, Milner, Neco and sadly Origi is off.

Shame Origi couldnā€™t have had 15 minutes at the end against Spurs - fancy heā€™d have got on the end of some of the crossing.

Hopefully we can recoup somewhere between 60-70m for those.

I cannot believe you have just written ā€˜Just get rid ofā€¦Milnerā€™.

The level of disrespect on here sometimes is gobsmacking. I donā€™t think itā€™s apropriate for the others either, with the possible exception of Karius, but Milner? A man who has given so much to this club? An asset whose influence on the younger players and potential in a coaching role could be so valuable?

This thread is the saddest (as in makes me sad) thread on this entire platform. In my 40 years as a liverpool fan there have been many players who came and were not good enough, but vanishingly few who deserved to be talked about like that

James Milner in the same cohort as Karius.
As you said, the level of disrespect for a legend is gobsmacking.
