Can’t believe I put Joel Matip in there
There were a fair few saying this last summer based on his injury record. Made up for him to have had such a solid season in that regard and now bagging goals too.
Same for Keita as well. Both having their best seasons with us and having any fitness risks managed really well.
Doubt either will be on many people’s sell list this summer.
Name and shame them.
Its a shame as his LFC career started off well and I have always rated him as a player but AOC is definitely off.
I would add;
Out of contract - Karius, Origi.
I don’t really have a wish to sell anyone, however, I expect the club to try and raise funds by off loading the following;
AOC
Nat Phillips
Neco Williams
Minamino
Rhys Williams on loan unless a good offer comes in which I doubt.
Gomez and Curtis Jones - to stay unless they want to move - which I don’t think they do - or we receive offers too good to turn down.
If Gomez and Curtis stay then I can see us signing an forward/attacking player to cover the front 3 positions but only at the right price.
A holding midfielder to rotate with Fabinho and a young right back to provide cover for Trent/Gomez - like the Aberdeen lad.
That would be cruel. I’m sure they know who they are and regret their actions. Rationale was usually fitness related which up until now was kind of understandable.
Nat, Neco, Ben, Ox, and probably Rhys
I just can’t see Curtis wanting to leave this summer. Played a fair few times this year for his boyhood club, added medals, gets on well with everyone, was a bit unlucky with the random eye injury. He’ll also have more chances next year. Ox is likely offski, and the senior midfielders are into their 30s (Milner closer to his 40s!).
I completely agree which is what I alluded to. He is still young, a local lad, training/playing with some of the worlds best players under a manager who will only encourage.
If I was Curtis, I would give it two Seasons to see how my career was developing and take it from there. The only reason I can see him leaving, is if we receive an offer of £25m plus and that the club believe the money would be more effective spent elsewhere.
Jones has had 3 or 4 different absences and has still made 27 appearances.
He’s not going to want to leave.
Jones is a really good player. To see this much action, at his age, considering the team we have, is brilliant. I can’t see him wanting to go, and I can’t see us wanting to sell.
Jones, Elliot, Tchouameni/new summer signing. That could be the midfield for years to come. If Naby gets a new deal he’s in the mix too, and obviously the old guard of Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago aren’t too shabby, but in time they will age out.
Salah. If he’s still undecided that he wants to play for us after all these months, he doesn’t.
I have to agree. We should screw as much as we can out of RM and use the money to bring in two or three players. If we start buying players early in the window, then you’ll know that a deal for Mo has been agreed with RM.
I don’t worry about the likes of Jones and Elliott.
They are where they deserve to be, under long term contracts at Liverpool.
What happens to them each season and how much football they play at this point, that depends more on what we think than how happy they are.
When they start meriting a more important role, they will get it.
What has Karius been doing all season. Is he even in Liverpool? Such a sad story…
He’s been lifting and eating his protein, that’s what he’s been doing. Saw a picture of him, looked tremendous.
[insert Mark Cuban Shark Tank gif]
We should have used him in our fashion brands.
Did you not see him celebrating last weekend.
But they look to have set ambitious fees for the duo, with The Athletic’s James Pearce reporting that Liverpool are to demand £15 million for Phillips, and a price similar to that for Williams.
Ambitious?
Nat is at least as good as Slabhead and Neco is potentially the second-best right wingback in the league. He’s only leaving because he’s got Trent in front of him in the pecking order here.
