Kayode has just signed a new contract with Brentford, so that’s another player that I like scratched off the list of possible signings.
Think Neto is a bit kick and rush. Meh
We could do better.
What about Manzambi?
Fixed
Apparently Newcastle are in negotiations… I fear for their welbeing if we hijack this one as well.
I havent seen much of him except the World Cup and youtube.
To me he looks like he´d play in the same place as Wirtz so I probably wouldn´t look at him
He looks like he does the goalscoring midfielder, Lampard (although more dribbling and less passing) kinda role. Not a bad player to have though. More so than Szobo I´d think if it came to one in and out.
Who would you say can reasonably imitate what Mane used to do for us on the left?
Other than Desire Doue
Great question.
It´s tough because Mane was a bit like a striker on the wing and I am not sure that works as well with Isak up top, unless our RW is very creative too.
But Ismaila Sarr as I think you mentioned, Matias Fernandez Pardo at Lille is also a bit of a forward on the wing, Nico Williams?
It’s a bit more interesting than that. Originally, he is a central midfielder. He started his career as a nr. 6, then moved up the field as a box-to-box midfielder. That’s mainly how he was used last season in Freiburg. But since a year or so, he has also proved that he has the ability to provide and score goals on a regular basis. With the Swiss team, he’s mainly used as a support player for the main striker, Embolo. But I’ve rarely seen such a versatile player. Watching him, you get the sense that you could play him everywhere on the pitch, and he’d excel.
He’s certainly an interesting player and shows a lot of promise. He’s only 20. One to watch.
Interesting.
He does look a good player and with a range of talents. Just from the little I have seen I think he´d be best as an advanced midfielder scoring goals. Maybe he could play wide too.
I wouldn´t say he´s got the passing game to be the type of CM I favour. Maybe a DM but then is that wasting his goal scoring talent?
It isn’t written in stone yet. Maybe he’ll continue his box-to-box midfielder role at club level for a while, and develop similarly to Gerrard for instance. I’d certainly wish for him to have a similar path of development. ![]()
Possibly though I´d argue Gerrard went up another level when he was playing as an attacking midfielder rather than box to box or DM.
That Darwin Nunez methodology
Regarding Manzambi, an excerpt of an article on the bbc website:
Having scored three in the group stages, this was his second assist of the tournament. According to Opta, he is the first Swiss player to be directly involved in five goals at a World Cup since detailed data collection began in 1966.
At 20 years and 261 days old, he also is the youngest player to reach that tally for any nation since 1966.
Sign him up!
There are a couple of RW and LW players at the WC that are looking quite lively. Whhich RW and / or LW player to get in? Don’t really know to be honest but maybe a RW is more needed. RW or LW or both RW and LW…
p.s. do I make the list?
p.p,s wrong thread I know…
I would buy a winger who can play rw or lw.
I saw Lyon just bought Julian Duranville.
He was supposed to be really highly rated. I watched some videos and he looks really quick and a really top dribbler.
Could be worth a look in Jan or next summer.

Has that ever happened? Somebody bought a player and then another team just instantly bought them?
I imagine it has for dodgy reasons.
