Who would you buy? (Part 2)

I don’t know who he is. But I think he’s lying there wondering why Liverpool aren’t buying footballers.

The experience of being landed in the shit and being blamed for it?

I feel for them.

Can’t be serious

Iraola clearly identified a winger as a need. And we clearly lack the depth needed on our front line to compete on four fronts in Iraola’s system.

Did not say we’re not signing anyone but it looks like it’s not going to be our first our second choice. Doesn’t look like the winger we’re going to sign will have all the qualities the coach was hoping for.

Might be a case of we’re bringing in an Alberto Moreno this summer before we sign an Andy Robertson next year.

It is certain that he cannot start for England.

Who are we signing and what do they lack that Iraola wants?

Iraola got a tune out of a guy who was playing for Bristol City four years ago, Justin Kluivert and a lad from Brazil no one had heard of before he arrived but now we’d all be delighted to have here. I doubt he’s thinking that without Diomande or Barcola there’s no hope for us.

Barcola and Rayan for me.

Zabarnyi. Gomez down after only 7-8 mins preseason first game. A defender is a must.

It’s unbelievable, isn’t it?

It’s a real possibility that we start the season with only two center-backs ready to play: 18-year-old Ndukwe and Ndiaye.

I’ll be really frustrated if we can’t bring in a new senior center-back and right-back next week.

John Stones as a back up for one or two years.

That would just be another person to sit next to Gomez in the treatment room all year.

Apparently Ndukwe is having to go out on loan, as he doesn’t qualify for a UK work permit

I looked it up after you wrote that, and my goodness, I had no idea he’d missed so many matches through injury.

I’m withdrawing my suggestion. :joy:

They’ll have known and planned for this.

If anything it’s good news as him and Nallo going on loan only increases the likelihood of us signing someone more established.

If the issue with signing a centre back is because we don’t want to stall the development of Jacquet or Leoni then bring in a squad player. Geertruida is available for less than £20m and is basically the Dutch Joe Gomez but he is not injury prone. We need someone.

Bringing Quansah back had to be a serious discussion
