Who would you buy? (Part 2)

They are supposedly sending German Crouch out on loan this season after being told by Howe he wont play

That’s wild.

Buy a shadow striker for £70m, play him at no9 where he flounders a little (though still did ok), play him IN FUCKING MIDFIELD despite having no other striker, then get rid.

In a season where nobody will sign for them and half their squad has left or is leaving.

Genius moves by Howe.

If he would shave the dodgy tash it would almost be worth signing him purely to see the Newcastle fans faces when we could line up with Isak, Ekitike and Woltemade while they desperately threw Dan Burn up front :joy:

The trolling of buying their best striker, the guy they wanted to replace their best striker, and the guy they bought to replace the guy they wanted to buy to replace their best striker would make it 100% worth it.

Bloke towers over all the Argentinians yet wasn’t even in the frame when the second goal was headed in

I think that is understandable, obviously a panic buy that hasn’t worked out

Zabarnyi and Huijsen were 21 and 19 and playing for Bournemouth as their first choice CBs. Think a few people are just thinking Iraola will be ok playing Jacquet and Leoni as he’s done it before. My argument would be that it was fucking Bournemouth and not Liverpool!

Somewhat hilarious that he was the better of the two panic buys they made up top last summer.

And they are getting rid of him to focus on the lad who didnt play at all last season

Interesting that nobody’s talked about Franco Mastantuono

Yeah, neither of them stood out last season after moving to title-winning clubs.

Mourinho wants to have a look during pre-season, according to The Athletic. So apparently not one who seems to be on the market at the moment, although that could probably change.

And who we wanted to spend a fortune on and everyone was on the boat for signing, almost everyone, not me.

Will have a hard time getting minutes on the right side.
Apart from Diomande coming in,

  • you already have Rodrygo, albeit injured atm.
    • Then he would compete with Valverde occasionally on the right.
      – Similarly Bernardo Silva
      – similarly Guler when he’s not in the #10 role
  • Brahim Diaz if he does not leave…
  • and the academy player Cestero (I mention him because of the pressure on Madrid to get players in the NT)

Brahim Diaz is another one who perhaps could be interesting, if he ends up moving.

Unbelievably skilful player, Franco, but I wonder if he lacks a yard of pace for the wing. Should be a midfielder.

Also very cheaty

Its not always about raw pace. If it was Adama Traore would be a $100m player.

His game is about technique in closed spaces and acceleration from stop start positions…

thats not on Dan Burn though…thats the genius of Messi.

he could be an 80ft x 80ft brick wall, but if Messi chips him, hes chipped.

Bit of a non-point really as it“s not about any one attribute. Being only quick won“t do much but it“s a massively important trait for a wide player.

All the best wide players other than maybe Kvara are all quick in combination with their other abilities.

In closed spaces? Surely like a midfield?

How slow are we talking here? Standing start acceleration is all you need to get that separation for crosses. You don’t need to win a 50 yard sprint
