I agree with you @Euphoria, I also don’t think we’ll sign an attacker. As much as I’d love to add Vlahovic or any promising young player in attack, I just don’t think it’s realistic, with the players we already have.
Yeah with Konate (35 million) and I do think we will buy a midfield like Bissouma or Neuhaus (25 million-ish), I’m just not seeing the money for another big signing (which an attacker will have to be). Jota being a rotational player was 45 million so we would have to spend similar imo for a Bobby replacement. Maybe next season
I do think we may not sign an attacker this summer. However, Shaqiri, Origi, and Takumi are going to be sold. Elliott and AOC are likely to supplement the four regular attackers.
I don’t see Taki staying, unless there is no one interested in buying him. If the club were planning to keep him I don’t think he drops out of the Japan squad, and he probably gets a name check in the press about being like a new signing for the club.
The amount of players we are overloaded with but can’t make use of we will definitely sell some if not most of them. I can’t see us not then attempting to improve the squad. I think the club will have learned some valuable lessons. And FSG won’t want the bad press of a negative net spend summer after the season we just had and the investment they just had. No way there are NO improvements Klopp wants to make. Think some are too keen to overstate Klopps willingness to work with what he has as happiness or desire to not bring in players in the transfer market.
Possibly Kelleher if he extends his deal as 2nd GK. Matip maybe till Winter if he needs help getting to fitness. Neco Williams if he wants to stay. Mane would only leave if Mbappe could be brought in. Firmino may possibly stay.
So I would look to add 4/6 depending on Neco and Kelleher.
1 second choice Keeper if Kelleher goes, Ward would be good as think he is club developed. Gazzaniga wouldn’t be a bad choice.
1 CB who is most comfortable on the left maybe Botman, Caleta-Car or Bastoni may be within reach.
1 FB who is comfortable on the right particularly if Neco goes.
1 CM the dream options are Camavinga or Bellingham, but Gravenberch may be more realistic.
1 AM type who can maybe play wide such as Sancho or Goncalves or even Hudson-Odoi.
1 Forward such as Andre Silva, Tammy Abraham or at a push Alexander Izak.
I disagree. I don’t like forcing players who want to leave to stay. I also don’t think he is a good enough player to justify that sort of action. It also sends out the wrong message to younger players we are trying to either sign or bring through.
If he can’t find a move that suits him, he will be happier to stay than if we simply block the move.
Also, if we lose Trent, I don’t think he will be trusted as our regular starter anyway.
Rumours from Italy suggest that Tsimikas is wanted by I think Napoli, and that the club are willing to let him go. I doubt they are from a reliable source but worth mentioning anyway as we’ve heard nothing on him yet this summer.
I think what we’ve seen from Klopp isn’t that he doesn’t want to bring in new players, but he’d rather bring in the right player and give them every chance to succeed and improve and will wait if the right player isn’t available.
I think we will see a midfielder arrive and perhaps a forward, but if we can’t get the players we want then it won’t be a shock to see Taki as the ‘new’ player as well as Naby and Ox being involved more.
Well, if he has dropped out of the Japan squad, that would imply he is working on a move. So, to me it would be a bit of a shock. But yes, if he is still here at the end of the window we will probably see that said.
Just wondering out loud, but I wonder if we will see a back three at times this season?
Anyway, new signings? Konate, good business.
Now need to add a midfielder and a forward. I anticipate we will lose another midfielder, besides Gini. We will probably also lose 1-3 forwards, in Shaq, Origi and Minamino.
Elliott to take Shaqiri’s spot.
Then add the best striker we can get to take the place of Origi and Minamino, and give us five genuine starter options for three spots. Who? Hard to say, but we seem to like versatility, and pace would be nice. Sancho, but might be too expensive. Maybe Isak?
There are a few out there and I trust the club to improve our situation.
After the spine is strengthened, another fullback might be considered, especially if Neco is off, but it is the fourth priority for me, and the position after Trent might be covered with Gomez, Milner and an academy lad. Also, at a pinch, is there any evidence Konate can play there? He has pace to burn.
