Who would you buy?

LOL. I think I was paying that for London Pride! not a bad pint, but still…

I made sure I kept the glass

Can I just mention Camavinga again, just so that I feel I’m contributing, Thanks!

havent really heard much , ill have to check him out.

I saw him playing for France once and he was very good, a natural all round midfielder with a longlife battery. DM, CM, AM you name it he does it.

The one who signed for Real Madrid in the summer?

Oh yes! so he did, what an idiot!

Him, for signing for those wankers, or you, for not noticing?

Probably both.

Him for signing for those wankers.
I only follow LFC so not knowing other stuff is admissible.

At the moment I’m not finding the time even to keep up with our injuries though so am feeling a bit silly.

I saw the Barnes link resurface recently too. Can’t remember where though.

Saw the same, we’ve been linked with him for some time. Seems we want a young (23ish) English wide forward.

I’d be happy with either Barnes or Bowen, both would grow into fantastic players under Klopp.

How much would Bowen or Barnes cost? Clubs that want to become our rivals, young, English/homegrown factor and long term contracts. Can’t see them being cheap. I’m not sure what roles people would play them in either, but I’m not sure of their ability to contribute to goals enough for our wide positions if that’s where.

I think Liverpool are going to be victims of their own recruitment success too for awhile.

If you’re a club with an OK player and Liverpool come knocking first thing is you’ve got to think “what have Liverpool seen that makes this guy special?”! If you can unlock it yourself and benefit on the pitch or in an even bigger future sale why wouldn’t you? You’d almost be crazy to just say OK and sell to us these days unless you have to.

Looking at where we can still recruit as clubs would have no option then players in decreasing contracts and with clauses spring to mind.

A lot of our recent business has got that too. Guys like Konate and Keita with clauses, Thiago (and I think Tsimikas) with expiring deals. Elliott on a free. We seem to be having to shop in places where the potential selling club knows their options are limited.

Even Jota, he may not have fit those categories but it felt like Wolves knew he could be a great player if he could become consistent and when they asked themselves the question of why we were Interested they knew the answer but they also knew (because they’d been trying) that they couldn’t get that consistency into his game. So a sale was best for all involved on that one.

Both good players. I think Bowen might be traditionally more of what you’d consider a Klopp type of player with the added benefit of being very durable and seemingly never injured, but Barnes is the more versatile player with a higher ceiling. Still, I’m not sure either will happen unless we can diddle West Ham or Leicester in terms of the fee.

Either will cost a bundle :moneybag:

I hope for better than Bowen. Decent player, and if viewed as a fifth choice striker, ok. As always, whoever wears that red shirt has my full support.

If we want him to play more regularly than a rotation sort of option, I hope for better.

If a clear back up, fine, but will be costly for the role.

That’s your opinion, not fact.

I wish West Ham found a need for Origi - however, they are no longer a lost club, spending for the sake of spending and without any semblance of plan.

Bowen works pretty well for them but I think he’d be even better under Klopp because of higher pressing. Antonio could persuade Origi that he’s indeed stronger and faster than everyone else in the league except him and help Moyes turn him into a bully of a striker. Win-win for everyone.

Bowen’s a really good player, better than okay.

Too much emphasis at times on every signing needing to be ‘generational’ or special. Bowen’s a player who would be a good, reliable performer all the time. I kind see him in a similar way to Milner, a player who even in his mid 30s is putting in better performances than a long list of midfielders who are supposedly more ‘talented’ than he is.

Unlike Origi or Taki he isn’t a player who’s going to be a passenger for 90% of the games he’s not playing well in. At the very least you’re going to get solid pressing from the front or support for the midfield and full back. And when he’s on, he’s plenty capable of providing quality moments.

There is a strong likelihood, one (or more) of the front three will leave in the next 2 years. With that is mind alone, I’d welcome either Bowen or Barnes - they can have time to integrate w/o the pressure to instantly deliver. Waiting/wanting for a better player - not sure there are any out there with that sort of skillset. The risk with going for someone similar from abroad has two major issues:

  1. Potential inability to adapt to the league
  2. Potential for not being able to settle

Buying from within the PL is always going to come at a premium, whether they are British or not, but what you get is someone who is used to the league and settled. That is why Tielemans wouldn’t have been a terrible shout over the summer.

The level of snobbery really has gone crazy with our success and somehow never remembers the players who enabled that, and that the vast portion of these were very good players who we turned world class.

Robertson - From Hull
Gini - From Newcastle
Salah - From Roma
Mane - From Southampton
Fabinho - Monaco
even Jota - Wolves

You combine that level with the ready made world class players like Van Dijk, Alisson etc. You get the squad we have. It’s as much about the ability than the mentality… Klopp seems to love players who have worked very hard to get where they are.

Bowen as an example has had excellent underlying stats for years, what he needed to do was turn those into proper output… Which is what he’s done this season. Klopp rarely name checks players, and he’s not one to say something without reason.

Barnes as another example smashed us appart last time we played Leicester.
