Who would you buy?

As @Lynch04 said here:

If we are going to pay the release fee, we might as well get Fernandez ASAP.

My colleagues and friends who support other teams are going apoplectic at the prospect of Liverpool signing both Fernandez and Bellingham.

Enzo, please dont bite anyone in this Croatia match

None of the regulars appear to have dismissed this move or at least rumoured interest in Enzo yet, which perhaps gives us some hope!

Or he does bite someone or 2, FIFA put a 6 month ban all football related activity.

Then we sign him in July on cut price 30m deal.

I think we went into the season short of reliable midfielders. It’s hard to argue otherwise, but I don’t think it’s reasonable to make the same argument about the forward options. Just one situation has compounded the other.

I’d love it if we got Enzo and Jude. That pairing potentially has all the qualities needed.

I think you can only hold so many spots of players on contract. Don’t forget what Klopps has spend his time here trying to build. shipping off an injured player to purgatory unless he does something like what Ronaldo did to get released from his Utd contract to go play Saudi, just isn’t how Klopp operates.

we started the season with NINE midfielders on contract. no much you can do about that if you cannot offload them.

Absolutely more than enough numbers, but not enough reliable numbers. I think we’ve had chances over the last season or two to get rid but decided against it.

There is definitely a question to be asked on whether the success that Edwards had in getting good money for the players who were surplus for us led to either 1) Edwards digging his heels in too much on deals going back to 2019-20, and/or 2) Ward doing similarly with not wanting to have been seen selling off our players on the cheep and undoing the great work Edwards did in establishing us as someone who cannot be hardballed. Did we come to believe our own hype to the point of overvaluing a series of players in a way that prevented us moving them on and in turn gummed up the works a bit with players who had an air of staleness about them?

This could be true, I suspect a bit of player loyalty feeds into the equation as well. Maybe they were expecting Keita to re-sign before his injury. Ox has been crocked for a while, for sure he’ll be toiling away a tier down on his next contract. Thiago is made of glass but he’s a genius so they put up with it. Henderson has been a workhorse but his efforts over the past decade are showing some wear/tear on his body.

For me we had to try and move on Keita and Ox at the very least. The others at least play 30 games a season usually, except Curtis but he’s got time still.

I would try and sign Carlos Borges from Manchester City. He’s unlikely to ever get a shot there but he’s a phenomenal prospect - as are many others over there - and I think he could actually have an impact on our first team right now.

Goals and assists aren’t the be-all and end-all at youth level but this record is also pretty mad. Bear in mind he is a winger.

They will never sell to us…

His contract expires at the end of next season. If he decides his path to first team football doesnt exist there and wants to move, they are not in a great position to stop that happening.

Southampton have been signing a fair few youth players from English clubs haven’t they, 2 or 3 from City as well I believe.

And we’ve known to sign a fair few players from Southampton…

City usually insert buy-back clauses in those deals though so could potentially scupper any deal.

Please Liverpool don’t buy that WC ‘wonder’ Amrabat …
