I get it! Just trying to suggest possible names, and if Gravenberch were to come in, he would need a measure of retraining if he is to play as the DM in our side. At that point I would also make the case that we don’t want a traditional DM either.
Another possible name might be Goretzka, although he might be on the way down.
Our high defensive line basically means that our deepest midfielder is basically going to be in the opponent’s half when we’ve got the ball in the opponent’s half. Fabinho’s attacking play isn’t in question. He just lost his recovery pace and was continuously getting beaten at 50-50s.

Anyway , we can’t read too much into heatmaps. There won’t be a difference in his overall heatmap of 2019-2020 to 2022-2023 because the heatmap doesn’t show how his recovery pace has decreased.
Honestly, I’d like Sangare now and Andre in January… And I preferred that option even before the Caicedo circus.
I get it, that Sangare hasn’t really been heavily linked but he is better on the ball than people give him credit for, and I’d like a dedicated defensive option in the squad as I’m not convinced yet that we have settled on the method of solving the defensive frailties of last season.
Andre, I would like because he seems more reflective of the style of player we want and looks quality.

There is a saying in American football that if you have 2 QBs you have 0. The idea being that if there is still a discussion about which one to play its because neither is really good enough to nail down a spot. This is the same as is happening with this idea of buying multiple players to fill 1 role.

Do you understand what an analogy is? The fact the specific saying comes from the NFL doesnt mean the idea is limited to that situation.
If you are having to suggest covering your bases by buying a second DM at the same time its because the first one you’re identifying isnt good enough.

It was a terrible analogy. Your quarterbwck reference only makes sense in a football context for something like a specialised position like goalkeeper where you don’t have two number ones. And the bitchy little base comment, deary me.
So DM isnt a specialist position? Regardless though, it is an idea not limited to a specialist position. If you’re trying to fill any hole and you have to suggest two people at one to fill it its because neither is good enough by themselves to fill it. It’s not a terribly complex idea
