Some good choices there, and I could easily be persuaded away from a few of my choices.
I like Livramento, but it seems like Newcastle are on course for a good season, might be hard to get one of their better players. Porro is actually often mentioned stylistically as one of the best Trent replacements out there.
I think Bradley certainly isn’t far, but what you’d like to see is finally an injury-free run and a larger sample of starts in a row, against different type of opponents. See what he’s made of when he needs to perform 3x per week and if, with time and more games, we get to know him better, both his strengths and weaknesses.
It might be a tricky situation to have a 22-year old Bradley in who we trust a lot and then bring someone of very similar profile (which would be exactly a type like my thought about Livramento a few months ago).
I wouldn’t be surprised if we looked at someone who is cheap/free, has more experience than Bradley (but isn’t too old), just to help us with the transition and obviously competition/depth. Don’t know if there are many of that ilk on the market this summer.
This is why I think Frimpong is perfect - while Bradley is still growing into his body, and getting through these juggling injuries. But he also covers Salah, not just at the AFCON this year, but also if we expect Salah to need to be looked after more in general.
I can even see a scenario where in two years Bradley has locked down the RB position, and Frimpong moves permanently to RW as Salah leaves.
I didn’t realise juggling was such a dangerous hobby.
I think I was aiming for niggling and my phone did it’s usual ‘I’ll step in here and change that for you, mate’
Arsenal: Saka (the only possible successor to Salah that I can see in the league), with Saliba a really close second, and Odegaard a really close third
Aston Villa: Rogers, with Onana a not so close second
Bournemouth: Kerkez, with Huijsen a close second
Brentford: Mbeumo
Brighton: Baleba
Chelsea: Palmer
Crystal Palace: Wharton
Everton: O’Brien
Fulham: Robinson
Ipswich: Delap
Leicester: El Khannouss
Man City: Rodri, with Marmoush a really close second
Man Utd: Zirkzee, with Diallo a close second
Newcastle: Isak, with Livramento a really close second, in spite of his ACL injury (it’s rare to see a young player recovering from it so well that the looks a level or two above his pre-injury form)
Nottingham: Murillo
Tottenham: Porro
Southampton: Dibling
West Ham: Kudus
Wolves: Joao Gomes
Kerkez, Huijsen, Frimpong, Ekitike.
Then if there’s any more money available:
Cherki
And probably a midfielder too, although I’m hoping Bajcetic can make the grade.
Among the people who’ve posted the full list of 19 players.
Quite a lot of commonalities there.
Yeah, some players really stand out, either due to sheer brilliance of their performances and abilities (like Isak) or through being young enough, quietly and consistently good and linked with Liverpool (like Kerkez and Huijsen).
I don’t have any real preference when it comes to names, the players I wanted or I’d love at Liverpool usually were or are unattainable (Bellingham, Saka, Saliba, Isak) or they turn out to be injury prone or not good enough (Lallana, Keita, Minamino, Nunez).
I like how everyone has identified Isak from Newcastle when what we’re actually going to do is spend a similar amount of money on landing gordon
Can we ban this person?
Hasn’t the ban hammer been handed to you ?
I like @Limiescouse but he’s just been guilty of blasphemy.
I did think we missed a beat when arsenal loaned Saliba over when they initially brought him. We could have bought him then. I think there was a clear window there where a 40m deal would have persuaded arsenal to sell.
I won’t get my hands dirty even in the face of such heresy.
Why? All you need to do is be first to open that thread…
No thread openings from Nikola. Please. Except the Gordon thread.
Why are we buying players from every PL clubs?
