Perfect United player, in other words.
Atletico have come out publicly and said they have no intention of selling, so it’d have to be on Alvarez to push for the move. It’d be a very tricky one to get over the line, no doubt about it.
But not impossible. They are well stocked in attack and even in this era of them being competitive are willing to play the role of selling their best players for reinvestment.
World Cup year coming. I’d take him.
That’s quite a list of Bosmans… you can tell that the players (ie, dirty fucking agents) have gotten wise to the idea of receiving signing bonuses from their new club instead of negotiating transfer fees from the old ones.
Notables
Jonathan David
Jonathan Tah
get them both. Get a decent price for Darwin and cut our losses.
backup CB sorted for next 3-4 years
I’d skip Tah. Is he off to Barca?
David intrigues me for years, I wonder how good he is and will watch his next chapter with interest.
I would show interest in David, certainly fits the FSG model of old.
He has been consistently very good in the 2 leagues, albeit weaker ones, he played in. At least the goals department. He is like the many good players who need to make that step up and test himself on the big stage. I think capabilities wise, obviously yes, it’s just whether he can be coached into a system of becoming the next " Salah" who bloomed into world class with us or swing the other way.
Yeah. If Jonathan David suits what we are trying to do.
Selling Nunez and getting him works for me.
If we get to ship 2 out of Chiesa , Diaz , Jota as well. We probably have enough money to go ahead and splurge on Isak / Ekitike etc etc. Get Danns back fit. And that (with Gakpo/ Salah) could be our 6 man attack next season.
Just to let you know…
Chiesa is going nowhere.
What’s makes you say that mate?
Not disagreeing by the way, just interested what makes you so sure he’ll stay despite the fact he can’t get any minutes at all.
Gut feeling.
Nothing else, nothing ITK or anything.
For some wild reason I think he stays.
He looks happy.
He has a part to play
Another loan spell for Doak then?
It will be interesting to see how many changes we make with the front six. If Chiesa stays, I hope we see him play more. If Mo’s minutes are managed a bit more so he doesn’t do the 90 every game, plus AFCON to take into account, there’s every chance Chiesa might prove to be a real asset for us.
Like every red, I’m watching to see what changes we will make in the summer. At some point I might get myself over to the Mikey’s Millions thread to wildly miss the mark with my guesswork, same as every window!
Damn. @PeachesEnRegalia , any comment ?
I’ve been wondering if we’ll do something a little wild if TAA leaves.
Maybe go for Frimpong, and that’d allow Salah to drift centrally rather than having to stay out wide. He’d also be able to fill in as a RW (although not cut inside) and it’d give Bradley plenty of games at RB too. I know Slot likes his full-backs to drive inside, as opposed to out wide, but it’d give us possibilities.
Slot does like wingers, hence why I see the appeal of getting Frimpong to cover both RB and as a back-up RW. Essentially, we’d have five attackers, and Frimpong would cover on the right if needed as a sixth attacker. It also keeps the pathway open for youngsters coming through. I just don’t think Slot fancies Chiesa at all, which is a shame, because I’ve wanted us to sign the lad for a while, and now that he’s here, it’s gutting that he hardly plays.
I think we might sign Frimpong too. His heat map shows he can cover the whole right flank, whether from right back or right mid/wing. That flexibility will be invaluable, since Bradley has yet to prove that he has overcome injury/growth issues (I’m backing him to get there, but I doubt he will be a mainstay in the side just yet) and Salah will be off to AFCON next season.
Frimpong has pace to burn and I think we need to inject more speed and athleticism into the side - obviously not at the expense of being able to play.
The price I’ve seen seemed reasonable - was it 30 odd million? - he’s a good age, and as an unexpected bonus, he would count as home grown due to his time as a youngster at Man City. If we are going to see some outgoings as most of us expect, a homegrown incoming or two will be helpful.
I see a lot of merit with signing Frimpong. Good shout.
Yes. Of all the RB options out there I think he is the one. Fast, versatile…Dutch
