she’d know enough to ignore the rumblings of obviously insane old man…
Kinda important to most folks who are paying hard earned cash to watch.
Kids football is about learning and developing, and there’s a great deal of satisfaction to be had from watching them progress.
I fully understand football thanks.
But as I said, opinions vary.
You like womens football, I think it’s awful.
Let’s leave it there.
I really enjoyed the last women’s Euros and I 'm looking forward to this WC even if I’ll miss matches through scheduling.
It doesn’t have the same level of athleticism as the men’s game but the players also don’t appear to have the same problematic relationship with gravity as male players who suffer near terminal head injuries at the slightest contact only to recover, Lazerus-like, once they have wasted a couple of minutes of everyone’s time.
The top teams are genuinely pretty good, but the lower down sides betray their amateur status. There’s nothing wrong with that. You can enjoy the game at the level it is being played.
For a game that’s playing 70 years catch up it’s doing well.
Used to go and watch Liverpool Women nack when they played in Widnes, always enjoyed it.
I think England will be quite fancied for this won’t they? USA are usually the favorites although I know England won last time they played.
I love women’s football and look forward to the WC down here in the next few weeks.
As the coach of a woman’s team I have noticed an injury toll that differs from what I have seen in my own men’s teams over the years. So I started reading up on this subject.
Turns out women are shitloads more likely than men to rupture ACL for instance. Hormonal, anatomical whatever the research is on. Boot designs being looked at as well.
Is it casually sexist to think women’s footy and rugby is crap or is it just a person’s right to like what they like?
I’m sure I’ll be told it’s sexist and I’ve been brainwashed into thinking it’s a man’s game and if I look carefully I’ll see the sutilty of it and really it’s better and more skillful. I just need my neanderthal brain unprogrammed.
I do like women’s tennis better at the moment though.
The level is the level (it’s better than it was, but obviously not a patch on the men’s game).
Mind you, I look at a team in the Prem like Everton and almost pity their fans for having to watch that shite.
Banter is banter, so I’m not overly bothered, even if no one is ironing a shirt for me
I love women’s sport but some real issues.
Golf. Great. Love how they swing.
Football. Massive improvement but goalies are the issue.
Cricket. Great batting but bowling is slow and village.
Don’t need to compare women’s football with men’s football. Two different sports imo.
Nah same sport different sexes.
Different yardsticks to measure. Even look at tennis for instance. The Williams sisters got their asses handed to them by someone who trained on a diet of beer.
I like women’s cricket. It’s refreshing to not see top edges and mishits not go for 6s
No problem with golf. They’re easily better than me. Same with tennis. Athletics and gymnastics is also fine.
But football, cricket and rugby, I’m better. It’s also slow and clumsy looking. No interest at all.
So the England women’s football team should be nicknamed ‘The Ironlesses’?
i call bullshit.
i dont know you, but im assuming maybe you were born in 1972.
that makes you 51 years old.
1972 Zinedine Zidane was born…so unless your him…or rivaldo, or Pavel Nedved…or even if you are one of them…i doubt youre running with a fit and ready Ellie Carpenter or Sam Kerr…these girls CAN play…
so all good, have your opinion, sit on the internet and blag out how your better etc etc…but dont expect anyone to believe you, and let us assume its just another brick in the wall that needs to be torn down
agree with this.
to be clear i didnt bring it in here but it seems to have bled into a few threads in here and its pretty anoying that guys can just run rampant through the forum slagging off something that should be a completely positive period.
I also liked some female tennis players. Some played with real class, technique and elegance (back in the day, thanks to my dad’s VHS tapes!). There are some male tennis players who I can’t watch for more than 5 minutes.
By the way, poor Lavia.
Yeah, let’s f*ck off to another thread.
It depends on why you think so, surely?
It’s not casually sexist to think women’s footy is crap because it got artificially held back for 50 years thanks to a sexist FA, at least in England?
