Yeah we are in a bad situation.
I´m pretty annoyed at the club for this. I was saying years ago we need to be getting Salah´s replacement in so he is ready to deliver big when Salah is done and we actually need him.
Instead all we have is 1 very young winger and I guess Gakpo.
In an ideal world I’m sure they would have, but it’s easy to see why pitching a top-level player the idea of being backup to one of the world’s best in his position, who’s never injured and throws a shit-fit whenever he’s not selected, would be a tough sell.
They’ve done probably all they could reasonably do in the situation and brought in guys who were a big step down but at least senior options who could do on a job on the rare occasions they were needed, like Shaqiri and Chiesa.
Well I think the point is that they wouldn´t have been a top level player at that point.
Hell, we could have even loaned them out or had an agreement in place.
I´d argue the fact we have zero right wingers and Salah was so relied on this season, suggests they havent done all they reasonably could have tbh.
I’d argue Slot’s non-rating of Chiesa was the bigger issue as he clearly could have contributed more, and his freezing out of Elliott who can also play RW.
That’s not on the transfer bods.
Barcola > Chiesa > Elliott > Doak > Diomande
Edit: Forgot wee Okie Doaky
maybe.
but thats not the point, its not about what the layman can see.
we are talking about trained scouts here with analytics.
for me and you maybe cricket is easier to read, but if your job is to judge footer players, then its not a stretch to judge a footer player on lesser exposure at the top level but the base talents are there to see.
we didn’t miss you.
Chiesa is clearly not the answer and Elliott isnt very good on the wing.
it´s just poor planning really. Even worse when you consider we don´t have that much on the left either.
The biggest giveaway in letting someone know you missed them. You were always my #1 Sith.
Even though I really love Elliott and want him to succeed here, I’d rather play Szoboszlai or Frimpong before Chiesa or Elliott at RW.
I think Yan is ready made for the PL. He is very strong and very fast. I am quite impressed with his passing ability in the final 3rd. It is very calm and intentional. He seems to always pick the right pass that is weighted properly. I think he is a real gem. Yes, he is young and it’s an absurd amount of money, but I think he’s the real deal and will only inprove under someone like Ireola.
Any doubt I had after watching him against France got swept away when he went past Hincapie like he wasn’t there. And not just once. That’s a really good defender who isn’t easy to beat 1v1.
Agree on the passing, this is another thing I like about him. He can just blow past his full back and put a cross in, or finish himself. But when he has the threat of being a passer as well, it adds another big dimension to how he can be a danger to the opposition.
Totally agree. I thought the same about him breezing past Hincapie at will as well.
If it’s a strong enough breeze his shorts may fall down again.
That’s an added bonus MH!
Amazing that he’s being really sporting about signing that little card.
I was going say it’s good he finds it amusing. Anyhow nice arse so why shouldn’t he.
