Was thinking something similar.
We do definitely need pace out wide but the real top players like Olise and Yamal play with their head up and can play a clever pass. I think they´re more technical dribblers too.
I do like the guy Schulderup for that.

Yes it is a big risk but it is the only way to keep him out of the clutches of PSG and Bayern.
What we’ve done with the three young CBs in January I think we should do that with wingers too. I’m sure there are loads of players with Diomandes potential in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.

I agree we should have got Diomande at 18 for a lot less. The beauty of that approach is that if they bomb we haven’t lost a lot of money.

His story is wild. Only 2 to 3 years ago he was playing youth football in Orlando having signed up for one of the development academies we have here because could do that at a younger age than he could move to Europe and start getting paid. He then moved to the Spanish second division, which would have been considered a HUGE success for that sort of academy such is the level of their expectation. Barely a year later he’s seemingly picking between PSG and Liverpool

Its more than the goals contribution. Its especially the difference in technique in close spaces. Particularly in the 1v1 situations.
Nusa’s strength is more wrt speed in open space.
Also, in the acceleration from stopped position…
Then there’s the added quality of the two-sided ability, meaning that he can play on either side of pitch.
Personally always felt like he could also play centrally…
I like this approach to buying them before they become stars, some won’t make it, and can be sold on and those that do

It’s really hard for a club that expects to win trophies to do this at the level a club like RB Leipzig, or Brighton, do. In order to work out which are going to make it, you have to give them all games and see which ones sink or swim. This will cost you points.
Liverpool have historically made stars rather than bought them, but we’re talking about players around 23-25 about the make the leap from promise to world class. Developing young players is another matter.

When Ryan Sessegnon broke through, Fulham were demanding an outrageous fee. They rejected some big money offers, deeming it too low.
He then got picked up for a much lower fee, and never lived up to his potential.
For every success, the are many more Lazar Markovics. If we are paying this much, it should not be a Mykhailo Mudryk type gamble.

I’m really undecided on this and I can’t help looking at it from a negative point of view (which is a departure from my usual point of view, admittedly).
It seems that the club have outsourced their scouting department to Leipzig but with mixed success - and the fees they’re paying Leipzig are only increasing. Diomande, still a teenager, would come with the pressure of 100M euros price tag and replacing the greatest winger the club have had in their history, not to mention playing in a league that much quicker and physically more demanding than Bundesliga, as Ekitike, Wirtz and Frimpong would undoubtedly testify.
He looks really good, that’s for sure, and @Limiescouse makes a great (and, in terms of general state of football, a worrying) argument that club seem forced to deviate from their player recruitment model to sign or even just be in the conversation for (very) young players who are deemed to have the potential to become outstanding players… If properly coached, which is not really the case with our lads now.
The player recruitment model has not changed. What has changed is the benchmark price for such players.
Not sure he´s quite as good as the hype but regardless, we are now in a terrible position of needing whichever winger we buy (should be two really) to come in and immediately deliver high quality performances with goals and assists.
So most likely we do need to be spending 100 mil or whatever it takes to get that, rather than a kid who will have his breakout in a year or two.. Obviously we should have been doing this a year or two a go.
