Yan Diomande (Winger) RB Leipzig

I’m not sure what the club is meant to do here. We obviously like the player, and and we were obviously given encouragement by the player to start official talks with Leipzig. It seems that the player had his heart set on PSG all along and we were used a bit. I’m not sure how that’s Liverpool looking unprofessional.

That analysis just comes from Ornstein remember. Everyone else just copied his punt. Who’s to say Iraola hasn’t put the kibosh on it by telling Hughes he needs other players? I’ll save my thoughts on our professionalism for when the transfer season is done. Long way to go. I’d back Rio on the right above this kid Diomande anyway.

We were used as the stalking horse to flush PSG out and make them act. Not sure who advises Diomande, but potentially their way of going about their business will make some enemies in football.

This is what it seems like to me as well. Stinks of what happened with Caicedo.

Nah. With Caicedo it felt like we entered the race at the very last minute assuming our bigger bid would win out, but the player had already spent a lot of time dealing with Chelsea and honoured that effort in the end.

It’s almost the complete opposite of this one.

Some you win, some you lose. It’s the nature of the beast and not some sign of incompetence or failure.

Looks like we lost ouy here same way we did with Caicedo. Took our shot having had some encouragement but ultimately they went somewhere else. But we just did the same to Newcastle for the second summer in a row. We did it to Chelsea in January with Jacquet. We did it to Spurs with Diaz.

Sometimes all the work you need to do is done but a more attractive option for the player, agent or club, comes in and the landscape shifts.

Good luck to the lad. We’ll move on to other targets. No need for any finger pointing or blame game, just one of those where it wasn’t to be.

Living in Paris?

Which I have always found one of the weirdest things to brag about as I always found Paris to be shithole.

Anywhere in the south of France and I would be happy to concede but Paris is the Fench equivilent of Mos Eisley Space Port

I’d rather get rejected than never enter the race.
