One other thing about January is that Rayan supposedly has a more reasonable clause kicking in at that point too.
endrick is a dream as he does not want to come here and madrid dont want to sell either. only possibility of that is maybe a loan. so we improve a rivals player only to send them back
How do you know he doesn´t want to come here?
He went to Lyon last year and Madrid won´t play him much now they have Diomande.
Madrid aren´t really our rivals to be honest.
If we can´t get him, I´d probably not buy any right winger for now and wait until a clear candidate is available.
Rayan’s release clause is £130m in January £100m next summer. Bournemouth have learnt their lesson well.
Because he’s still at Madrid with the number 9?
if you google endrick and lfc, you will see articles on man united and lfc interest and player said he would rather stay in madrid and fight for his place
I wouldn’t be surprised if we pivoted to Minteh for now and Rayan in January.
But my guess, at this point, is Minteh and Barcola to close the window. Our interest in Minteh is real (and a good thing, from my point of view, as Mbaye is far riskier).
your plan to ‘just wait’ for a right winger is a massive gamble. Andoni Iraola’s entire football philosophy is built on high-intensity wingers. He relies on extreme pressing and elite ball-carrying out wide to stretch opponents.
Iraola himself just admitted in his press conference that the squad is way too thin out wide and we don’t have enough wingers. With Mohamed Salah gone, we absolutely cannot go into a grueling season a winger short and just hope for the best. If it’s not Minteh, we need an alternative immediately, not a vacant position.
So he will play ahead of Mbappe, Diomande or Vini?
I think not.
Assuming your analysis of Iraola is correct, Minteh does not have elite anything. The pressing is something fans love to talk about, but all the best wingers in the world are with the ball first and foremost.
Obviously in my view it´s a fucking disgrace we are even in the position where I am saying we might have to wait a year. We should have had a Salah replacement in a year ago, never mind now.
But unfortunately there are no top right wingers available it seems and we have such glaring needs elsewhere, I´d put the money there for now, assuming we can get Barcola in. It´s also a big risk to ignore, RB, CM, DM and even CB, in my view. So I´d invest there and make the improvements that are more significant and possible now.
So what? The only South American player willing to leave Barça or Real for playing time in the last 10 years is Araujo.
Casemiro? Di Maria? Coutinho? Suarez?
What’s the Gambian Paul Joyce saying?
you are so quick to forget how our great salah had problems tracking back and his defensive game was a struggle as a winger. there is no perfect right or left winger on the market, it dont matter, if its rayan, barcola, mbaye, fernandez, minteh. they are all imperfect players with lots of potential. its great that they are young and very eager to learn. one thing minteh has going is his defensive pressing which someone highlighed as being top 2 in the league. if barcola comes and ekitike returns, we have so much offensive power that we will not need dude to contribute20 goals a season.
How am I quick to forget it? I don´t care about it nor did I say anybody was perfect. Salah had unbelievable attacking abilities - dribbling, shooting, passing. Minteh has none of those.
I know fans are obsessed with pressing nowadays as the media go on about it, but I don´t really care if my winger is top 2 in the league for pressing. I care if he´s scoring, creating chances and stretching teams. Pressing is nice to have, in my view.
I´m not certain Ekitike, Barcola and Isak probably cannot all play at the same time either.
Fair enough. I thought I read £80 odd millions somewhere.
Clearly Minteh, then!
(Yes, that was a tip of the hat the the Polar Bear on the Fox’s Glacier Mints advert back in the day, for any seasoned pros on here who know what I’m talking about).
Haha, nobody could have foreseen this ![]()
I don’t think that’s an accurate description at all. He’s got really good close control and has that quickness of feet to help him beat a man without relying on just top level pace.
He’s also got a really decent cross on him so I’d be really excited to see him switch to the left for parts of games.
He’s certainly got the gas to put the fear of god into a high defensive line but he’s got far more to his game than your kick and rush merchants like Traore.
minteh does all that and more. main struggle is scoring. pressing is not only “nice to have” in klopp teams or AI teams. its a prerequisite not a luxury
