Alexander Isak (CF) Newcastle

They’ve been on Wissa all summer, I think there was some agreement last summer he could go for 26m, oddly Newcastle have only offered 25m but Brentford now want 60m which is fair enough. If you are going low ball on a figure from a year before.

If there is anything we know about this lot it is they will have all the contingency planning all mapped out already and know exactly where the fork in the road is that will indicate it is time to change direction.

No, that would be to Newcastle’s benefit.

Some consortium of American billionaires buys it and hires the right people to run the club effectively? That’s not what we want. Let PIF keep the club and run it as if the players were just overpaid camel jockeys.

And wasn’t there a post in this forum referring to a newcastle fan mentioning how Howe did a masterclass 4d chess move when Ekitike was bought by Liverpool.

How’s that working out rightr now ?

So he was left out of a friendly on the 19th July due to transfer speculation. We made a bid on the 1st of August and were told he’s not for sale.

But apparently all this is our fault for not acting sooner or making a suitable offer despite being told he wasn’t for sale when we offered a British record fee with a month of the window left. Make that make sense if you can.

Yes, that offer is less than Newcastle want but at the point we make an offer he’s already being left out of games so why should we go in with a bid to match what they’ve leaked they’d want? If they were open to selling him why not negotiate our offer instead of saying he’s not for sale?

As for Winter calling them “proud, tough owners who don’t like losing” that’s just sickening. Clearly worried about their reputation when it comes to journalists not bootlicking the state.

It’s obvious he won’t go back there.

Window shuts while he is on international duty, he doesn’t return post international duty.

Exactly. If we drop out now, that gives Newcastle the chance to win over the player for the season. If we go right to the wire, it just reinforces the player’s vindication of his stance.

Not sure that ever happens. He can not play for the club again and still get selected for the world cup team. He has nothing to gain (after taking this stance of not wanting to play for the club) if he chooses to play for the club again.

But if we don’t sign someone then we are short up top. However I suppose with Leoni it showed we can get someone in who provides that option while still being after Guehi.

Yeah his international boss has backed him.

And the advantage is that (from Sweden’s perspective), he can be very fit for the national team and end up at the world cup being very fresh as opposed to other players who’ve entered the world cup playing a grueling season.

Only down side is he isn’t match fit. Though I assume the Swedish facilities would try their best.

This is starting to drag, hence I’ve done some research on a few alternatives.

The same name keeps coming up, and for the price, it’s a no-brainer…

There is still a scenario where we wind up with no Isak and some injuries after Monday, apparently Hooper is the referee. :see_no_evil_monkey:

Hooper?

Oh dear :expressionless_face:

Is it too late to request a change in referee ?

This is the bit that had concerned me. I just wonder what sort of interlocutory fuckwittery very pissed off blank cheque backed lawyers could use to delay this process sufficient to stop registration before the window closes?

Well the window is the following Monday at least.

Would be disastrous for any team, let alone LFC, in this circumstance to walk away. What would that say to future signings in similar situation as Isak?

As Slot mentioned, we lost three forwards and have only replaced one. Getting a LW who can play in the middle, shouldn’t preclude continued interest and engagement re Isak…

We wouldn’t have been that desperate for a Guehi had Gomez shown the slightest bit of reliability (in terms of fitness).

That said a CB needs to be finalized immediately. Maybe even in the next couple of days.

I’d be more concerned with our midfield getting over run and Gravenberch needing backup rather than another body on the forward line at this present moment.

Gakpo , Wirtz , Salah , Ekitike , Chiesa with Rio & Danns getting some game time is okay for me for this season.
I know Wirtz is a midfielder but he can play on the left as can Frimpong on the right if the situation calls for it.
