I would very much doubt they’d treat the players differently under the same circumstances. So that surely indicates either a difference in attitude of the players or in the seriousness of the respective approaches.

Owners are very keen not to lose face. Fanning the flames of the Isak situation helpfully distracts from the fact they’ve been beaten to half a dozen other CF targets this summer as well as being bent over a barrel by Brentford on Wissa.
Sadly the Geordies are lapping this up and making themselves look like idiots whilst not really asking how they’ve ended up where they are.
