They may not need to sign two this window to let him go. I still think a week is enough time for them to bring in 2 players. They’ve increased their bids for the lads at Brentford and Wolves in the last 3-4 days, so I can see them go back again for them, then there are potential loan deals they could do to give them some depth if they can only sign one.
How long it has dragged on makes no difference to the chances of it happening. The fact we’ve got last night’s game done and the window closes in a week only improves the chances of it happening now if you ask me.
I know we’re better at this transfer lark than Newcastle but this casual attitude of “we should just move on” is a bit fanciful. I’m sure we have a contingency plan but we’ll want to give the Isak deal every chance of reaching a conclusion.
Agree on the CB though. I’d take Hincapie over Guehi if we have the room on the non-homegrown list but I’d also be happy to get Guehi in. Put some pressure on Konate as he’s started the season shite. Give Leoni a chance to settle and adapt for a season and then decide if he’s capable of being a first team option next season when I suspect Konate goes to Paris or Madrid.
Because of Leoni’s age we currently have one non-homegrown spot available in the prem. I don’t know how that will work for Leoni in Europe.
Hincapie has played in a back 3 most of the time so Guehi is the better option plus he has proved himself in th PL
If the Newcastle ‘suits’ had managed to persuade Isak to stay, I think we would’ve heard about it by now. They would want to get the news out to the fanbase asap.
It’s not even midday yet.
I thought they’d ‘paid him a visit’ yesterday. If so, they’ve had plenty of time to leak it to the media.
The talk was they were going straight from the game.
They met in the afternoon.
What better way to announce he was staying than before the game against the team trying to sign him but…didnt happen
Tbh i think they will be discussing FSG investing in saudo pro league etc and would sell us isak to encourage investment
Isak isn’t going to agree to stay before the window closes, unless it is just before it. He will hold out as long as possible. The question is whether Newcastle will harden their position, or whether we walk away first.
Did they turn up with an empty suitcase and machete for these talks?
Its not just reintergrating him to the squad. Its also repairing the link with the fans, you can imagine him seeing the shirts on sale with the matches included.
He has to be included on the A list taking up a non homegrown spot if we register him for UEFA competition as he hasn’t been with us for 2 years.
I get why they would have tried to convince Isak to stay because no point not trying but it’s hardly a surprise considering how much this has escalated but it would be more of a surprise if he agreed.
Please post indykaila in unreliable outlets.
Bloody click farmer.
Where is the outrage about Newcastle unsettling and disrespecting Wolves? I get this has been a running joke, but WTF
