£130m to rotate? No thanks.
But Isak must also agree to go there in the first place!
Isak isnt going Saudi at 26 in his prime.
I saw something that said Inazagi wants Nunez - but again, why go there in your prime? plenty of time to play Sunday league when your over 30.
Then he stays on better terms. I believe there is no way they sell him to us. Why would they? PSG maybe.
It’s a Saudi money shuffle.
Unless LFC ask you to contribute what does matter how much he costs.
Slot wants him. We have the funds. Isak wants it.
Thatll do for me.
In 2019/20 we acted small time. Won the league and didn’t build on the squad.
This season we are billy big bollocks and its lovely to see finally. Its what champions do - they get stronger. Fergie did this every year.
Because if Isak doesn’t want to go there and they don’t sell him to us they have an unhappy player on their hands. If they start season poorly then the fans will be saying should have sold him to LFC. Every press conference will be about Isak.
This is Toons Coutinho moment. Take the money and rebuild. Next season Isak is only worth £80-90m as only 2 years left.
Mmm and we fleeced Barca!
It’s just I do not see them making it easy and we do not need him so much now we have Hugo.
Let’s see. I think there are PIF games to be played. Let’s face it they can play every trick like City have done.
Why dont we need him?
We sadly lost Jota.
Nunez will be gone and it looks like Diaz is on the way.
Cheisa will also go.
Is this the time when we mention that Isak is a boyhood Liverpool fan ?
I heard he grew up with posters of Ngoo and Ngog on his wall
On cue the Liverpool fan presents itself.
Must be about the time we played that great football with Klopp.
We broke our transfer record to bring in Nunez when we already had Jota. No one expected Nunez to play every game though.
It’s a squad game. No one is playing every minute of every game. Yes, we could go and buy a cheaper striker to rotate with Isak but if we’ve got the money and he wants to come why wouldn’t you go and get the best player you can?
Nunez, Diaz and Chiesa are still here, for now.
We also have Mo, Gakpo, Ekitike, Wirtz, Doak and maybe Rio.
So, at present, we’re not light up front.
However, it is looking likely that at least two of the three you listed will leave. In that event, we would need a striker, but we don’t necessarily need it to be Isak. There are other strikers out there, we don’t need to play Newcastle’s game.
Let’s do what we’re known for doing. If we want him, make an offer, if Newcastle aren’t open to a reasonable offer (for an unhappy player who apparently has told them he wants out), then we identify other targets and move on.
2 of the 3 , if not all three are almost certain to leave.
Doak? Rio? They aren’t starting Premier league games.
Doak will be gone as well.
Although Diaz and Nunez are still here they will be gone (Nunez 100%) and so to Cheisa as left out of the tour.
Wirtz can play false 9 but he isnt a 9.
I think £130m gets Isak.
Giving over 120m to a sportswashing club? It’s a no from me, no matter who the player is.
I think that is an exceptionally harsh comment, and overstates what is going on. The players leaving/left are the ones who barely played, need updating, or actively want to leave.
Who has actually gone?
Kelleher went, as expected and I imagine at his own choice.
Trent - chose to leave
Quansah - Barely got a look in, and 40m was too good to turn down for a lad who probably wasn’t going to make it.
We don’t need to talk about Jota. All we need to say is that he is no longer here, and it’s not LFCs fault we need to replace him.
Who else is likely to depart?
Robbo and Tsimikas - one is likely to go, but I think we all wanted a new left back last year. I don’t think anyone would suggest we keep three senior left backs on the books.
Nunez? I think we all knew that was the case. Slot doesn’t rate him and I don’t see anyone clamouring for him to stay.
Elliott? He is a good player, but again he wasn’t getting a sniff of a game.
Diaz? Seems intent on leaving, and if we are being honest the lad has had (through his gobby dad) one eye on an exit since he got here. I understand the desire to keep him, but he is after one last big contract that improves on his 140k a week, and we would be stupid to give him that at the age he is.
Doak and Morton? Like the kids, but he wasn’t part of a title winning team.
So it’s hardly breaking up the winning side. It’s offloading a few fringe lads, moving on a few that aren’t getting game time, and losing a couple who we’d probably have preferred stay, but have made it clear that they want to go. And one died, which takes some sinking in.
It also needs to be said that despite winning the league, this was a squad that had quietly become a little on the old side. The average age needed to come down, and we needed to start building for the future.
We want Isak. Isak wants Liverpool. Newcastle wants to keep or at least sell to Saudi because of the bigger money.
This might drag on. They could refuse to sell to us this window in the hope for Isak then deciding to join Saudi (their window closes later).
What I’m trying to say is that we could have a van Dijk situation here and Isak could join us in January if we are really his only option.
But imagine sunday league football with premier league paychecks
