I like the idea of sending him on a loan to a setup where he can flourish. He just doesn’t fit into our current scheme so his stats look bad thus depressing his value.
Sounds right up the street of many a Serie A club.
Ergo, I think it’s a bad idea.
Also why Chiesa is still here - all offers would have been rubbish loans.
Some reports are coming out with Isak literally going on a strike over a move to LFC.
That is pretty alarming to say the least…
Why?
Worked for Neil Ruddock.
Though he was a long term cunt.
And Lovren.
And Virgil.
Although someone at Southampton then had a hissy fit so it was delayed a window.
Some say that Simao’s airplane is still circling above the Atlantic, waiting for permission to land and get the deal done…
Perhaps i’m biased as he wants to join Liverpool but if he has been given assurances by his club that they would give him a bumper new contract and strengthen the squad but are now saying they are unable to do either then i think his actions are understandable, particularly if a club (us) is willing to pay an exceptionally high fee for him which would enable his club to move forward.
Souness was the first player I can Recall that went on strike until he got his move…
Middlesborough to LFC - and we know how well that turned out :0)
I think Nunez will be sold to the Saudis, later in the window, for a fee not too dissimilar to Diaz-Bayern.
If no bids materialize, and I do not expect that, I would send him out on loan as he has 3 years left on his deal, so we don’t need to panic this summer.
This assumes we buy Isak.
How long do we think this saga is going to last? My initial thought was that it could last until the end of the window as Newcastle does everything to persuade Isak to stay.
However, the more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that Newcastle would rather get the funds now and reinvest them before the end of the window. Moving on from Isak soon will also eliminate a lot of toxicity surrounding his desire to leave.
We haven’t heard any real updates on the Liverpool side for about two weeks. I imagine that, with Diaz done, you’ll see movement on our side within the next few days.
I don’t think its a saga, just yet.
It’s certainly more of a saga when we’re the “suffering” club, not the buying one.
One option resolve this is the Saudis over pay us for Nunez and in turn we overpay for Isak. Helps them keep face, funnel some extra cash into Newcastle and everyone moves on.
Might cost them a few quid to get Nunez on board but could easily be a one year thing to get him back playing and then come back to Europe if he fancies.
All a bit unedifying but not beyond the realms of possibility.
Newcastle have done quite well on the pitch, but off it the “project” is quite a long way off where the owners claimed it would be by now. And those promises were a big part of the pitch to the high profile signings they made like Isak and Tonali. I’m not saying that he’s pining over the lack of new training ground specifically, but once a project is seen to off track the conversation about whether a high profile/expensive hire is the fit for them at this time is a reasonable one to have.
Keen and cunning plan, I like it
To me it is Hellenic, not Greek (since I am not a Roman)
Edit: forgive the nerdy joke.
