This. Big time briefings today that Sesko is most likely going to MUFC since Villa have told them to fuck off on Watkins.

NUFC are in a tricky spot here. If Isak has stopped showing up to training, then that relationship might be irreparably broken, so cashing in makes sense for them, but without a viable replacement their fans will revolt. Sesko is the last “big name” striker on the market, so I feel that they’ll need to pony up a shit load of cash to gazump Man Utd, which means they’ll get fleeced for a few seasons in the market, but at least they’ll have a marquee signing for their fans to ease the pain of losing Isak.

It’s a tightrope, Spud. It’s a fuckin’ tightrope.

Sheesh. How much are we paying Hugo?!

We heard similiar nonsense about Wirtz´s salary as well.

It waives a ‘loyalty payment’ in some cases, so it amounts to throwing some cash on the table.

That Craig Hope has said they’re giving up on signing Sesko and are now targetting Muniz from Fulham.

Do feel like they need to sign someone before they’ll even consider accepting a bid.

Newcastle are very poorly run off the pitch. They have had a lot of leadership churn and several bad decisions. Easier said than done, but you need good people who make good decisions. Keep doing that and watch your star rise.

Right now there’s a sense in which they’ve barely got going, although making it to the CL might help cover over a few cracks.

The owners need to sort out a better training facility and upgrade, or build, a stadium. There’s a lot they can be doing but for some reason, it almost looks like they are not fully committed or engaged.

I guess we will see what’s what in the coming months, but they have left themselves a bit vulnerable for now as they are getting knocked back when they try to sign someone, and it looks like they will lose Isak.

Yes yes yes yes YES!!!

It wouldn’t be implausible if Liverpool and Newcastle have already reached an agreement on Isak, but Liverpool has agreed to keep things quiet as Newcastle negotiates with other clubs to find a replacement.

Newcastle are still in Asia on their pre-season tour, right? That seems like important context for him going awol seeing as him being left out of the tour already has him training apart from the rest of the group. It seems the reporting is being a bit hyperbolic

I think clubs would already know or at least suspect that were the case, so I see little value in them keeping it quiet.

Odd choice by Sesko to go to Man United. They have been ruining young players for a few years now. If he didn’t fancy Newcastle, staying where he is would be better!

Couple of points here on signing Isak… Before he went on walkabout; If reports are to be believed; I honestly believed LFC would get him for less money, or very similar amount, to what they paid for Wirtz.

There is a difference between Sandcastle asking for a £150m fee, than actually being able to secure it. The lad has said he won’t go to Saudi… which now means, if every team across Europe is considered, and the lack of funds they have behind them at this juncture of the transfer window, we at LFC, have entered a one-horse race for his signature..!

We play them on the 25th August, and the transfer window is open until the 1st September… Beside stubbornness, pride alone will not want them releasing him to us before then…!
Which now means… for the sake of a few short months, why not wait until the January window, and go back in for him quite strongly, and secure the best monetary bargain we can.

If he is stewing up in the cold alongside misery guts Howe… there is no way he will be a happy bunny during this time - Come January, they might be glad to get rid of him…!

Downside of him going AWOL, it might have put extra pressure, and weakened the bargaining power of Edwards and Hughes to buy him… Leave them to fester in their Camel Dung domain is what I say… get him in January

I dont see much difference between Sesko and Hojlund TBH. Outside of talent the things that made Hojlund a strange fit for what Utd were looking for 2 years are stylistically matched by Sesko I think.

Players still choose United. Big history. Often their parents grew up as fans when they were successful. Big wages.

Makes no sense to me!

If I could play for United I’d 100% do it.

I wasn’t that good at 25, let alone 48. It would be worse than Ali Dia.

Low risk. Get fairly big money straight away. If the move doesn’t work out you can put it down to Utd being a mess. Probably easier to jump ship if need to. The fact they have brought in a couple of other forwards this window may help lift the pressure off him. If they score more this season, he gets credit.

Newcastle’s position is a bit murkier. Who else in their side beyond Isak is going to stand out. Could the treatment of Isak also be a factor - will be probably easier to get out of Utd than it may from Newcastle if things don’t work out for the team but he does well personally?

Newcastle may have come to the table for him late and may lack the confidence in negotiation to persuade him they are the better choice.

The problem is if he joins Man U on higher wages, it’ll make it very hard for him to move if things predictably flop. You can see that in their struggles to offload some of their dead weight.

Why? He can offer to take a pay cut if he wants a move away. It will probably still be more than he would get if leaving Newcastle.

The bigger issue would be if Utd overpay and are reluctant to sell at a reduced price.
