Alexander Isak (CF) Newcastle

This seems minute by minute.

So glad we don’t do transfers like this or is it the fact we don’t have to.

Both teams here - Toon and United - are being totally mugged off.
The player is dicking both around.

But I do think he will end up at United. No idea why any young player would want to join them other than money (United never learn their lesson in giving youngsters too much) hasnt he seen how United have treated their own young players/

If he’s not going to Newcastle , Isak wouldn’t be allowed out right?

I can distinctly remember when we were doing transfer business like that. The last time, it was with Rodgers (ie. Balotelli, urgh… the ‘transfer commitee’, urgh…). I truly hope that we won’t have to see anything like that anymore.

I would imagine if Sesko chooses Man United it delays Isak, as Newcastle will need a striker. Hopefully they have a couple of irons in the fire and they get this sorted out asap.

Sounds like something my kids would say to a neighbour

Shouldn’t matter one bit either way to us. If Isak is coming , he comes on. Otherwise we just move on.

Eh what ?

Just saying that isak , coming to us , isn’t as big a deal as VVD coming to us back in 2017.

We aren’t the same club.

If we get Isak it is the attacking cherry on top of the cake for this window

That said the money could be better spent on reinforcing the cb position atm. I know there have been links to Guehi and now the Italian kid, but we do really need to get someone in as we are starting the season with 2 CBs.

In other words, Newcastle being too shit to buy anyone and therefore be unable to part with Isak would not be the worst outcome if it redirects our focus to centre back reinforcements

Isak is a luxury signing, not a necessity

I disagree if he can properly take the goal scoring burden off Salah thats as important if not more then the Virgil arrival.

Why is this narrative that Isak not happening gets a CB all indication is both will happen.

It’s not a case of one or the other. It’s the focus has been Isak first, then CB. Personally would prefer to go into the season with CB sorted then see if we can finalise Isak.

If sorting defence out first delays Isak a week or two or pushes it to a different window I’m ok with that. Wirtz, Salah, Gakpo, Ekitike should have enough about them to see us through

Whatever happens…Sesko will 100% go United so Isak wont be here yet but Brentford will let their lad leave - name escapes - and he does want to go to Newcastle.

Im sure clubs of our status work on more than1 deal at a time.

Definitely, can see that earlier in the window with Wirtz, Kerkez, and Frimpong going on that same time.

Atm the deals around centre backs have gone very quiet and seem to be on the back burner. Joyce’s most recent piece mentioning Guehi was a non update that said the same thing that’s been said all summer (not for the price palace want) and then tentatively mentioned an 18 yr old. The Isak stuff seems to be moving forward (just waiting for Newcastle to actually buy someone), while the CB transfer stuff has gone quiet. The season starts in just over a week, personally I would prefer to see the club prioritise pushing through for a CB, and put the Isak transfer on the back burner

If Joyce says something I wouldn’t totally write it off as being an interesting side note. He’s more ITK than most and genuinely doesn’t give much away.

Just because nothing is in the public doesn’t mean its on the back burner journalists only know what the club wants them to know.

I know, but the link to the teenager was that he is one name among however many on a list, not that he is a target. The link isn’t tentative because it’s Joyce reporting, the link is tentative because Joyce is reporting it in a tentative manner

Absolutely, but since the VVD cock up other clubs journos have been our first source for near enough every transfer with our lot only commenting to say yay or nay on a transfer once a certain amount of interest has been established by other journos, and there is no real noise coming out of anywhere else either currently. I’m sure the club is working on something, but until we start to hear about it it’s just guesswork.

All we have done on Isak is made a statement and a formal bid, one about 2 weeks after the other.
