I havent read the article but it sounds a logical step for PIF to take r if they are serious about making the Saudi Pro league a bigger thing.

One for the Newcastle thread I know, but I just have a little nagging feeling about PIF and Liverpool. There were some rumours about the PIF looking to sell their stake in Newcastle a month ago, and looking at one of their forums, there’s some complaints that they don’t appear to be as focused on them compared to other sporting ventures. Then there’s connections via golf between FSG and PIF. There was also the piece about the Saudi Pro League looking at Michael Edwards, which seemed strange given his role with us. Probably sound like a MAGA/Reform voter with the conspiratorial stuff after all that!
Anyway, do we think Isak gets done before we play Newcastle on 25th August? Or if it does, will he even feature in that?

Standard complaint against any organisation owning multiple franchises though - we’ve seen it amongst our own fanbase and that of the Red Sox about FSG.

I think it was the official newcastle fan forum, but there is quite a lot talking /thinking along the lines as to what Negan says…think it was @Redbj who first mentioned it , that maybe they were looking at their own teams in saudi and developing their league over what many newcastle fans thought was going to be a man city model on steroids…and some actually complaining about stavely not being there anymore

Think there may be some merit in that line in regards to looking after their own teams/league over newcastle.

Is the PIF business model strictly a sports-washing thing or are they looking to invest to turn a future profit? It could be that they saw Newcastle as being a potentially valuable asset that had been chronically underfunded by Ashley, and that they could turn that around and sell at a profit.

The value put against Isaac is a touch one-sided, because it is Sandcastle themselves that have plucked the figure from nowhere.
In the 6months between this transfer window and the one next January… Isaac value on their books will have depreciated…! The offer we seem to have made, may well be based on what we think he is worth now, combined with what we think his value in January will equate to.
Walk away and go back in the next window is what I say.
I think one thing could be banked though… If Mike Ashley had still been at Newcastle when our bid for Isaac came in… the lad would already be wearing a red shirt…
The Sandcastle contingency plan for forward planning in the event they would struggle to recruit, has been laid bare for the world to see… and Howe-y, needs to shoulder some of the blame here

Why should Howe take the blame, he evidently already speaks as he has gone. The higher ups aren’t willing to accept that it seems.

I think they all have, but their inability to sign any sort of replacement is holding up the process now. Which is also linked to how highly they value him compared to us. He’s only worth £100m to us, but £150m to them in terms of replacement or the ongoing value to the club should he stay.
If they can’t find a suitable replacement then keeping him, even if it’s until the next window, may be worth the loss in value if he makes a difference in their league position and CL progress.

Yeah regards Isaak… no blame - As for not pre-planning around stuff like this happening, in a sort of - ’ What-If ’ scenario good leaders mull over all the time… Even if the North East environment is/has become a factor… Howe-y should be able to get some players over the line by his project plans alone… that is not happening though… so I feel he needs to look inwards on this

There is no point bidding until they are willing to move.
Our baseline offer is £110m. Newcastle keep saying they want £150m. The compromise there is around £130m.
If we go in again, maybe at £120m, the negotiation is only going one way. That’s how Man United do it.
We’ll go up again when Newcastle soften.

We don’t know the insides of what they are doing? Howe might not even be involved.
I have more time for him than a lot on this board do, evidently it’s not set up in anyway decently at the moment, ultimately he will probably take the fall but their issues will remain.
