Alexander Isak (CF) Newcastle

Darwin would probably have turned them down for someone else too.

I think the Isak situation has put them off any of our players.

They had notable interest in Quansah last summer and Gomez. You could also have expected them to be interested in Harvey, but I don’t think there has been a link with them at all.

Don’t you think he’d have preferred to stay in the PL?

Yes, I would have thought Darwin would have been willing to move to Newcastle.

Every young player will be thinking twice about joining Newcastle given how they’ve handled the Isak issue.

They’ll have a tough time with contract renewals now.

Could you imagin the fume in Toon land if we announced at 4pm Monday with a pic of Isak infront of the Kopp holding a LFC scarf.

Probably but Newcastle have had a terrible summer for attempted signings going elsewhere and not like where he went now is different on the source of his pay then Newcastle.

I have worries about this Isak chappie…if he eventually signs for us…what is he going to be like if Arne doesn’t pick him for a game…or he is subbed…Is he going to go on strike again…throwing his dummy out of the pram…I wonder…

Had a look at Newcastle contracts expiring in 2026. Quite a number of secondary players there. None that Newcastle would feel too badly about losing on a free. Likes of Lascelles , Targett , Schar etc

Most of their main players are contracted till 2027 (Botman) or 2028(Isak, Guimares, Tonali, Joelinton, Barnes, Livramento)

All the best trying to extend those contracts.

Not sure it would be too big an issue in my mind. Most reports seem to point to him telling Newcastle 12 months ago when they refused a new contract that he would look for a new club this summer, so they have had plenty of time to sort their shit out and failed to do so despite agreement that they would consider offers.

Yeah, at the very least he’s going to be unsettled. It’ll be a while until he’s able to just concentrate on football and play with freedom.

Not only that, he hasn’t had a proper pre-season so he wouldn’t go straight into the team. Maybe it would be like the situation last season Elliot and Chiesa?
Arne: Well, Alex you didn’t have a full pre-season so you’re not really fully fit and you’re not really integrated with the rest of the squad yet. So let’s give it a while and maybe you’ll get some games when you’re up to speed.
Isak: What the actual fuck!? I should’ve stayed at fucking Newcastle.

Maybe he’s already training in Slot’s backyard.

I think you are being very optimistic because with the crowd baying for blood and cheering loudly every illegal tackle then tell me those pros won’t leaving something on Liverpool players with glee especially if the ref of the day lets them get away with it. Obviously I hope I am wrong but with the experience we have in the derbies where we get regularly assaulted with quite meaty tackles which inevitably go unpunished. In a normal world the first bad tackle get sanctioned with a red then we might have a chance of having a competitive football game.

The problem with that is we will get punished instantly.

I don’t think they will have as much problems signing any young players as we are speculating because of this transfer. Money speaks eventually and we are underestimating the pull it has as evident from how the whole footballing world has changed. And the added factor of how stupid, short sighted and greedy the players and agents can be.

Remember when Trent got booked when Gordon fouled him ?

Newcastle guys don’t play fair.

Ok

For optimistic I would say realistic.
But I do get the point.
And @Bekloppt also.

But as @Walshy07 has stated, wrong thread.

On topic…
We sign him late next week.

It does, but Newcastle are significantly constrained by their unimpressive commercial position in the game. They already spend a very high % of their revenue on wages and need to get that under control before we move away from the PSR regs to the squad cost regs.

Semi related, one of the graphics doing the rounds shows Villa spending 95% of their revenue on wages. That puts their cartel complaints into context.

Even better would be any player wearing a shitty black and white striped shirt gets a red card before kick off
