Maybe the player’s camp is holding out for as much as they can get?
Not sure what is credible, but reports just before the final suggested that he’d agreed terms with us and Real.
Hes just for us to pounce.
PSG might have posted a last minute offer and thats the reason for it to be stalled
Its being reported as there being a disagreement between Monaco and Spanish tax authorities over the implications of the club’s special tax status. Monaco’s reported valuation is a tax clear one, and the Spanish authorities (why are the Spanish the ones disagreeing?) are reportedly saying that Monaco will be required to pay tax on any fee they receive from Real, and so there is back and forth on that trying to resolve a difference of understanding and possibly renegotiating the fee accordingly.
Did we have the same problem when we signed Fabinho ?
That deal came out of nowhere, something like 20 mins from first rumour to confirming his signing. If there was any faff we didnt know about it.
The other monaco transfers were long drawn out affairs. Not so for Fabinho. Guess we will never know though the issues in that transfers
The Spanish authorities are supposedly taking their cue from the circumstances of the James transfer that hit the same problem. Again, I am confused why monaco allegedly dont understand their own tax situation and are being “corrected” by the Spanish authorities, but this is what the sources Ive read are saying.
Hopefully Monaco just tell RM to fuck off, and sell to us instead then
After the debacle with the Champions league final, is it any surprise the French don’t need correcting.
Couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery and probably can’t organise their own tax requirements either.
Monaco’s not French though…?
It’s had decades of scrutiny over its tax arrangements vis a vis Ligue Un though. Sheesh, they must know what’s expected by now!?!
Wonder if a top target like him was ever linked to offering Keita a new deal or not, which we are doing now by all accounts.
If not, then perhaps we’d look at loaning out one of Elliott or Jones. I feel like that’s a little bit why Klopp had that talk with Jones at the middle of last season, perhaps urging him to kick on and realize the opportunity to become more important.
I think 7 CM’s (so, +1 for 3 positions) are fine for us as long as Millie is that one who is used a little bit everywhere and you also have one young talent among those.
Tchouameni looks like a type who could both compete with Hendo for the dynamic RCM role and also, together with Hendo, cover for Fabinho. And then long term, depending on his and our evolution, potentially replace Fabinho.
Let’s see if there’s a Tchouameni alternative this summer (a different top target that we really like) or maybe we leave it for someone like Bellingham (I’m saying someone because it doesn’t necessarily have to be him) for the summer of 2023.
Real have agreed a 100m euro deal for him according to Ornstein , bloody hell
Early days on my creation of a midfielders list similar to my forwards list in the Who WOuld You Buy thread but so far Tchouameni does indeed show up as the best midfielder <27 in the world (but I have lots of players left to assess).
PSG really are cunts aren’t they? Even when they aren’t destroying transfer fees and wages they are driving prices up for everyone else as well. Not that I’m arsed Real Madrid got fleeced
Wonder if we will go for someone else or we’ll stick with what we’ve got?
Verbal agreement - standard RM - this isn’t over yet.
I was going to watch the France game last night, giving me chance to watch the first of ten of his games I need to see to qualify for an opinion on him joining…oh well couldn’t be fucked.
