He might feel like the club is bringing in Barcola right under his nose and sees himself being demoted to âjust a squad playerâ instead of a starter. But would he get a starting spot at City? Thatâs questionable too, right? Still, if he wants a change of scenery, at least he wouldnât have to move; I think he and his family already live near Manchester anyway.

These things always depend on what we do after don´t they. If we then went out and bought some shit hot right winger and a very good midfielder with the money, it would be very ambitious and worth doing.
But in reality we all know that isn´t going to happen, and that is the big issue.
We have barely any time left to make moves, and we are likely to go for Minteh or Sarr, both worse than Gakpo, and for fees not that much less than we´d get for him. And are we likely to get a good midfielder? Nah. That´s why it reeks of a lack of ambition, as you say. Just bizarre from us to be honest.

I hope the club listens, as even Virgil has advised him to stay, regardless of Gakpo choices no deal until we replace him in January. Personally I wouldnât countenance any bids either from Shitty nor anyone else as we have sold quite a few important players and replace them so far with 2 players (JJ doesnât count we signed him last January) we need at least another 5.

I think he may also have been one of the few players loyal to Slot at the end as well. Which Iâve heard suggested as a reason he might want to leave.

We are put to shame by the so called bottom clubs who have bought wisely and are subsequently doing remarquably well even with new managers like us.
Hull who are top of the league at present have added a winger for ÂŁ22M.
Add Hull and Sunderland to that lot.

He was put on sale by the club, we had been approaching other clubs to come and bid since world cup.
And, then, if your options are spurs or cityâŚno one with a sane mind will chose spurs.
This club is the last place you would ever want to leave if your family suffered a tragedy. Here, he has his mates and fans and everyone in day to day operations who provide shoulder and support in tough times more than any other club in whole of England.
The question you should be asking is "why is your best attacker this season being sold on the last day of the transfer window ? ".

It seems he wants to leave; otherwise, we surely would have heard by now that he wants to stay and fight for his place in the team etc.âbasically all the things youâd want to hear from a committed player. I mean, we canât sell him against his wish if he absolutely doesnât want to, right?
Iâd like to keep seeing him in the squad, at least until Hugo returns, but it unfortunately looks like Cody doesnât want that. And I just wondered why and was looking for an explanationâŚ

This whole ´been our best player´narrative is a bit much too.
We´ve played two games and most of our team has been poor (including him other than his goal contributions). Muùoz also has two goal contributions if we want to go by stats or whatever.
Anything he has done this season is no justification for not selling him. The justification is that he is a known reliable player and we can´t get anybody better right now, most likely.

But there were rumours already starting about him leaving while Arne was still in post and much of the talk about whether or not he leaves this summer suggest he had already been speaking with and had some agreement in place with clubs before the summer window properly opened, so I would be very surprised if this is because of Arne leaving.

The reporting from Rory Smith (observer and Libero podcast) is Slot identified even in our title winning season a transition towards the sort of anti football that saw arsenal win the league last year. When that was combined with the nature of the loss to PSG Slot felt we needed to change the characteristics of the front line. Clear chances would become much harder to create from open play so we needed players who could be patient and then have the talent to create something out of nothing.
That is the reported thinking of last summer. What it seems is we acknowledge we didnât get it right and combined with Slot losing the plot weâve ended up in a hole we now have to dig ourselves out of. And are doing so with a fresh perspective influencing the conversation about weaknesses and needs.

But for Slot, weâd probably have a content and somewhat rejuvenated Salah for this season, and less supporters pissing their pants about signing a right winger

If we donât sign anyone and keep Gakpo it will be interesting to see how he responds. He seems the consummate professional but would understandably be pissed off at how heâs been treated
Dont see an issue with the club here, it would appear that he was the one pushing for a move and the club have clearly been trying to bring in players to facilitate that move..
