Glad he is staying. He is not a legend like Firmino but he has a similar attitude. He gets played left right centre but he remains committed and gets himself involved. He is not world class and probably will never, but his attitude is probably 2nd to none in this squad, and all these dealing with a personal tragedy.

Yep, but in fairness last season he was playing badly and people didn’t think the alternative was going to be giving Crystal Palace £75m for Sarr or Brighton £80m for an injured Minteh 
would have been happy to see him leave last season due to his poor disinterested performances and lack of fire in his belly, (along with a few others)
but i think this may have been down to Slot who i feel sucked the life out of the team
now we have Iraola in charge and its year zero, everyones starts afresh and gets a 2nd chance, and 2 games in Gapko is already preforming better

Agree with this,also the apparent alternatives were underwhelming or injured.
It seemed Gakpo was agitating for a move,but now it maybe wasn’t the case,at all.
If he wasn’t after a move no way it should have been entertained.
As @Bonus pointed out,new head coach(hate that), a new season,players should get a chance to show Iraola what they are,unless they are hellbent on doing a runner.

i think also when presented with the option of signing sarr for 75 million, fans were like, fuck that, better to keep our cutback dude than pay that kinda money for a player like sarr

The club wanted rid of for the 'right price’s. The club is happy to keep as ‘right price’ wasn’t met!
I wanted improvements in his performances, agreed with the club his salary isn’t justified. Felt it was upto the club what they wanted to do. However considering Gakpo’s contract it wasn’t just the club to decide.
It’s strange how you interpret this with loads and everyone. Imo something has to give at some point for me neither Gakpo nor Gravenberch justify their salary. We’ll see what results I hope the club is right however they haven’t shown that they are confident.
Unfortunately you can not replace a whole squad in one window. Particularly if you wait untill the last hours to do it.
Perhaps Sarr plays for peanuts?

The whole squad dont need replacing, in fact very few of them do.
New manager (sorry, coach), new tactics, new attitude.
