Diogo Jota (LW) Wolves

Really looking forward to seeing what the Klopp effect has on his performances. A lot of talk of Sarr having the higher ceiling but I’m not convinced. Sarr could yet be Zaha mark2 while Jota could be Pulisic standard or even Mane level.

A could be B, while C could be D. Insert any player you wish

Some guys are concerned about who gets game time with these wonderful new signings - why is that even a thing? I don’t care who plays as long as we get results.

Hate to get excited over highlight reels but come on! Every! Single! Type! Of! Goal!

We are signing a player who can play two roles for us up top, I sadly don’t see that currently off the bench, Origi has never looked good out wide, Minamino might get there eventually but we need a lad who we can shove on who may get us a goal or who we can rest others for.

That’s why he is coming because we can do a like to like for him and if he is needed to play 4 or 5 games due to injury to someone up top he can.

It’s a bloody good signing and one we’ve been crying out for, we are PL champions not a charity. If Jones, Origi and AOC want to play they have it in them to try and force themselves in to the team they will get opportunities especially as outside of Internationals it’s wed/sat until Christmas.

Thiago brings in a player we have never had in that midfield and improves probably our weakest area, this signing gives us options up top without comprising on ability to play there, I’m actually with others, I don’t think this is the last signing.

We’re getting Jota for Origi and Hoever aren’t we? You just know it. Don’t let me down Mikey.

More I think about this, the more I like it. He seems to impact every Wolves game I’ve watched and it wasn’t just goals. It was his competitiveness and willingness to do whatever was needed while also providing a threat. He’s versatile and should provide cover for a lot of different spots. Not too expensive either. Seemingly likes to press and defend in all areas (quite Firmino like in that sense) and tends to pop up in dangerous places in attack. I also can’t imagine a scenario where he thinks he’s coming in to replace anyone in the front 3 yet there shouldn’t be a major drop off if he is asked to step in.

True enough he needs to improve his finishing but is one of those guys who seems to put himself in good positions so often that you get frustrated he doesn’t always finish. I liked the thought of Sarr but I might like this even more, superb cover on the wing IMO

What a fucking masterclass by the club.

£41m+4 :open_mouth: Wowza, that’s quite a lot of cash.

Yeah but think of how many shirts he will sell

I think the intention is for him to be outfield not in the club shop.

But yes, £41m does seem expensive.

Can’t see Origi staying now. £25-30m?

Edwards has to have a database of kompromat on every other club. There’s no other explanation.

Looking at this compilation, my feeling is that if this guy comes in, he’ll light up a gigantic fire under Bobby’s ass…

If the signing of Jota is to increase squad depth and more attacking player options moving Big D on makes little sense your back in same position.

£30m + Hoever is a decent deal though. That’s essentially what it is.

That’s what’s needed Bobby has lived on past reputation for a few months now.

I just thought the baseline valuation of Jota was a little high. Given much of the information being leaked earlier was in the £35m ballpark.
