My Yuppie neighbours will rejoice indeed!

Congrats mate. I think Iā€™ll just beat you there, as I should be over in mid-September. Have my wifeā€™s permanent visa half done now so getting there slowly. Moving to the opposite side of the world sucks when you have settled into Europe and you have to shift everythingā€¦

Even for the year I was over there in 2019 it was hard to be a full blooded Liverpool supporter. Its either watch it live and destroy your sleeping habits or watch on delay and have all the joy sucked out of the match knowing it has already happened.

Yeah, the European games arenā€™t too bad, but the afternoon matches are impossible. Avoiding the result is pretty easy for a couple of hours, but waiting all day isnā€™t feasible.
Lots of Reds fans in Sydney though, Iā€™m always greeting people in LFC shirts when weā€™re shopping.

:grimacing:

People in Sydney get up really early anyway. At night everythingā€™s shut by nine.
Itā€™s very different to Berlin in that way.
Lots of people tell me stories about the nightlife in the eighties and nineties, but itā€™s very tame nowadays. Not that I care, Iā€™m an old fart who enjoys an afternoon nap, so it suits me

Thereā€™s no better excuse for an afternoon nap than having been up at some ungodly hour of the morning.

Also means you can take a dump on their car bonnet on your last night eh :0)

Bike rather than car. This is Berlin after all.

Iā€™m a bit concerned about the impression you appear to have of me.

I love the 7am Sydney time LFC ko.

Most games are the godawful 1am-4am.

But Iā€™m the one who has to check the result before I watch the replay.

:scream:

Seriously worried about this. Have the authorities learned from last time?

I return to live there in less than 3 weeks. Just in time.

As to your question, what can the bushfire authorities do better? If they are doing as many fuel reduction burns as practicable in the ā€˜off-seasonā€™ (if there is such a thing any more), what else can be done? Theyā€™ve had 3 very wet years and this one is expected to be very dry so there will be plenty of additional growth as fuel from those wet conditions, compounded by the fact the window for reduction burning is being squeezed by climate change in the long term and by the heavy rainfall over the last 3 years in the short termā€¦

not much else, this is a cyclical thing with the bush. I remember taking the train to Katoomba for a weekend and seeing thousands of acres of burned forest and that was 20 years ago

Weird thing is, these flash fires burn through so quickly it doesnā€™t actually kill the trees. it was strange to see trees with black trunks, budding up with leaves about 18mo later.

Where is a good place to watch football in Hobart? Will be there for our match Vs Wolves. I donā€™t drink so donā€™t necessarily to be in a pub or bar but will go for food if it is a good place to be in. Thanks for any recommendations

Are you on a world tour???

Not football related, but as an artist you might likeā€¦

Hobart is 10 hours ahead so will be 22:30 kick off I think although @Redbj will be able to confirm if my calculations are correct.

If so, then I think the only options would be a bar or maybe Wrest Point Casino
