The kind of scam where you potentially end up with fuck all?
Well said
I agree and like I said last night, now we will see what he is made of. Waiting for us or signing with the first foreign club that comes along.
If it is the latter I would not want him anyway.
Not sure that is true. Sounds like the hiccup was on Fulhamās end not ours?
Iād love to be a little fly and see if it was Ward conducting the operations for this one. Letās hope that it is part of the learning curve for him. At least, the obvious main target has been achieved. For the ongoing season, not getting the lad doesnāt change anything. Beyond thatā¦
- we might live to regret the missed opportunity as he goes to [insert club name] and develops into the next Messi.
- heāll be steadfast and chose LFC no matter what, becoming our next superstar (or our next flop).
- his head will be completely fucked off, heāll be on the bench for the rest of the season at Fulham, and no-one will want to touch him with a bargepole come May.
Who knows?
My prediction: heāll be confirmed as our player for next season by the end of March, fee around the Ā£6-8m mark.
I would like to think Ward had that conversation last night and could get it put together sooner - I dont know what the difference would be from the deal they tried doing yesterday, it shouldnt be that much more complicated should it?
Itās clearly in Fulhams intrest to sell/agree a deal with a UK club, the difference in tribunal fee for a none uk club is staggeringā¦ Like Ā£500k vās Ā£5mil potentially.
The only spanner in the works is if a club like Barca throw money at the kid and his parents.
I think a few people need to take a deep breath, step back and have a think about this.
Iād say heās absolutely nailed on to sign on 1st July.
If there was a serious prospect of a foreign club swooping for him, he wouldnāt have agreed terms, signed the contract, had the medical with us etc. Heād be sitting tight, and waiting for the offers to come flooding in before making up his mind in the summer. The fact that he was willing to commit now suggests to me that his heart is very much set on Liverpool and Klopp.
Regarding Fulham, itās a very dangerous game theyāve played here. As I said, I donāt think that are losing him on a free to a continental club. I think theyād have got their arses in gear if there was any prospect of that. This really seems to be about hoping the tribunal earns them a few more quid. Iām not sure it will.
I think it unlikely to have been deliberate. The risk of alienating your own players and another club that has been quite lenient in its dealings with you canāt be ignored. If it had been deliberate, would we have allowed Neco to go there?
Iām factoring in there might be a certain amount of the player being advised to see what other offers come in from abroad.
Also weāll surely try to negotiate a lower fee, so a bit of back and forth there.
I donāt think it was. This was all down to Fulham, theyāre the ones who took it to the wire. They agreed a fee and then changed their minds, wanting more money. The only aspect of this I question, is why this deal wasnāt sorted out much earlier in the window, instead of getting involved in the ācircusā of deadline day.
If he is that good he is worth waiting for.
Ball firmly in his court. He knows Liverpool want him, and if he wants success he will be our player in the Summer.
I stand by my assessment. It was an embarrassing shitshow.
A non embarrassing non shitshow would have seen us get the deal done smoothly, quietly and efficiently.
Now the whole thing is left in the air, whatever you say heās a teenager and likely to be wooed by all the major clubs offering huge sums of money. Weāll see what happens, but he could have been our player this morning.
Apparently the Neco move was finalised before the Carvalho deal went tits up. I just donāt think Fulham have behaved very honourably throughout these negotiations.
On what basis? We were being opportunistic and when Fulham finally agreed on a fee there wasnāt enough time to complete it. That sometimes happens when there are multiple parties involved. Sure, it wasnāt the smooth process weāve become accustomed to but it was more complicated than the average deal.
Would it have been nice to get it done? For sure. Would it have made any difference if it get done yesterday, today or in the summer? Not really. Itās only really a failure if it ends up not going ahead but as others have pointed out, he agreed a contract with us so heās clearly very much further down the road with us than any other team at this point.
It does amuse me when one of these goes wrong and everyone seems to know exactly why it went wrong.
The truth is that no-one has a clue.
Plus it involves a player that no-one had previously heard ofā¦Remember Clint Dempsey guysā¦Is anyone still mourning that one getting away?
I think youāre right, and there was a willingness to get it done from all sides. But the did drag their heels an awful lot over the fee.
There are three parties involved in this. Two of those parties seem to have done their stuff. The third appears to have fucked it up.
