Fabio Carvalho (AM) Fulham

I read some interesting analysis that he has all the underlying numbers to be a false 9. So could be an option there also.

Yeah I think initially an Ox replacement, but can see him transitioning to a false 9. We shall see.

Iā€™ve read somewhere that they are looking for him as a firmino understudy.

I donā€™t think Jones will be there as a regular starter. Not when Tyler Morton makes the jump up next season. Ox is probably redundant at this time and Keita should be given an added contract.

I canā€™t tell if youā€™re actually saying Morton will displace Jones?

I think he might.

Based off what? Iā€™m a huge fan of Morton, but heā€™s nowhere close at the moment.

I think heā€™s more versatile than Curtis and can be used across the midfield. He seems to pass better as well too. He needs some strength training but thereā€™s a better player there. Not saying Jones is bad but out of the two in 3 years time, if you are looking at one guy who can be a regular starter for liverpool , Iā€™d say Morton

Jones is much better than Morton.

Jones and Morton are very different footballers.

Absolutely mental how underrated Curtis Jones is.

Some might say overrated, as well. Iā€™ve always been in the middle with Jones as I can see his skill set and potential just as I think heā€™s not always played well enough, often enough to think heā€™s going to be a guaranteed success. Heā€™s had good performances but heā€™s been in the 1st team picture for almost 4 full seasons now and there isnā€™t a real breakout season in any of them. I think he needs to start stepping up now, well next season anyway, as Henderson is 32, Thiago is 31, Milner is 36 and presumably on his way, Ox is likely on his way while Elliot and Carvalho are a long way younger than him.

We shall see where Carvalho fits in. Iā€™ve not seen him play but from the vids (I know), heā€™s the long term Gini replacement with extra features imho. How that effects Jones, we shall see.

I agree and he not a spring chicken anymore he is a Liverpool kid so some give him extra credit I understand that but IMO he will never be a regular starter for us.

I think breakout seasons are overrated, but then again, we have rather scant evidence with how JĆ¼rgen uses youth players. While Alexander-Arnold essentially didnā€™t lose his place after breaking into the first team, we also had a right-back shortage and not many good options there.

Midfield is a lot harder, and yet Jones has racked up a good amount of minutes. Bit too soon to be writing him off, heā€™s barely turned 21!

I think Jurgen would like to mould him into Bernardo Silva type midfielder, and I hate to use the prick as a reference.

Agree with that. A few years ago maybe he would have been able to nail down a fairly regular spot in the midfield but not now. Being brutally honest , heā€™s just not consistently good enough to warrant it. Maybe he kicks on again but I doubt it somehow. Would love it if he did though and proved me wrong.

Absolutely baffling what some people see. Morton has done admirably in his appearances but he wasnā€™t even on my radar for first team action thos season because of his limitations. Heā€™s a very traditional English midfielder, the kind that were churned out regularly from this league in the 90s and 00s but they donā€™t really exist anywhere at the top end of the game anymore.

Jones is a totally different question, a tricky winger being molded into an 8 with a possibility of being a freakishly talented midfielder when and if it clicks for him.

Jones just needs patience and application to make it here as a regular. Morton needs to time travel back to 1995.

Morton is an exceptional prospect but heā€™s no Kevin Stewart :stuck_out_tongue:

If he brings the same riches to the club that Stewart did weā€™ll all be happy

Curtis is one of the most talented footballers born in 2001 but - and Iā€™ve said this many times - Iā€™m expecting him to struggle winning a permanent starting place here.

Morton is obviously limited but imo there is no reason why Klopp should not be able to turn him into someone like Lucas Leiva or Gini Wijnaldum.
