Interesting heās seen as more of a forward option than midfield.
Also most of the announcements stating thereās no interest in him going out on loan which suggests theyāre expecting him to play a decent part. Perhaps a Taki replacement?
See Iām not so sure this is such an issue. Yes, when we get to break on teams that raw pace from Salah, Mane and Diaz is devastating but increasingly weāre playing against teams playing a low block and two banks of at least four.
Look at the second half yesterday. They sit back and the space is so condensed that none of our pace merchants really had much chance to stretch their legs or hit top speed. From the limited amount Iāve seen of Carvalho (admittedly not the prerequisite ten full games to warrant a valid opinion) he seems very clever around the box and in breaking lines. Heās not lightening quick but heās certainly not slow and a bunch of his goals come from darting runs into the box beyond the forward line.
Something a bit different isnāt a bad thing and clearly experiments with playing the likes of Ox and Taki there have delivered underwhelming results.
Donāt know the technicalities but āacquiredā would suggest itās to do with the change of registration from one club to another rather than whether itās on a free or a paid deal.
Doesnāt sound like thereās any intention of sending him out anyway.
I am sure Klopp will take the pre-season to observe whether he has the attitude and aptitude to stay with the first team squad or whether a loan would do him good and take the decision much later in the window. In terms of experience, he had a full season as a key player in the Championship and performed really well so going on loan to another Championship club would be pointless. Unless there is a commitment from another PL club who will play him week in week out, I think he will do good to play the cup games for us and some odd games in the PL, just like what Elliot is doing for us but of course, he has to show Klopp he is up to it.
I doubt heāll be going on loan as we normally donāt loan players out for their first season. We seem to prefer to have them train with the first team for the entire season, get them integrated, then send them out on loan, if need be.
