Florian Wirtz (AM) Bayer Leverkusen

Dembele could be roughly in the same area, probably depends on structure of add ons etc, that one was reported as 135m EUR including add-ons

I suppose this sends out a message to other clubs we might buy from that don’t want to burden the player with a price that sets a British record.
A little bit under the record, OK. But we’re not going over.
At least not until all the add-ones kick in.

Lazy fucker… sell him already.

I think it will end up over the record. These these usually get recorded inclusive of add ons, but most of the 16m we’ve agreed will probably be easily achievable.

Anyone remember feeling disgusted when Chris Sutton went for £5m?

I’m assuming that the deal is actually in £ rather than €? They seem to be quoted in very nice round sterling numbers.

£ has dropped against the € this week so we may already be up on the deal.

I remember people going nuts when Roy Keane signed a contract for £40k a week.

Poor old Luis Diaz should be grateful for his £55k a week being considered outrageous for the entirely opposite reason.

I did a quick conversion at the current rate earlier to work out where this sits in terms of PL record fees. The £100m up front comes to 118m euros and the full £116m inclusive of add-ons tops out at 135.5m euros.

Sometimes I wonder if Journos drop this stuff to make them look better. As I said elsewhere I’m not going believe these people know all the details. Only deals involving Man Utd seem to have every bit of detail outlined because they are crap.

Don’t really care about the specifics of the fee. It’s a whacking great chunk of cash either way.

Only two things I care about are, firstly, what’s the plan Slot has sold him on. Is playing as a 10 with a CF in front of him? Is he playing as a false 9 with three midfielders behind him? Is he perhaps even playing off the left?

And secondly, what does Elliott think of this and how might it impact his future? Don’t see a world in which this somehow increases the amount of game time he can hope to get.

On the first, I don’t think Slot is working to a rigid formation/position, and given Wirtz’ flexibility, it’s more likely Slot has said you’ll be playing full stop.

Elliot’s statement a coupe of weeks about about looking into his future probably followed Slot/the club making it be known that they are going to Wirtz. This should be no surprise to him at all.

I did not want to jinx it but I was hoping the lean would be on my birthday and on the day of the opening of the transfer widow. Anyway it is great news and a big relief for all the supporters we can relax and start concentrate on a CF and a CH hopefully. Kerkez is the next player to be signed perhaps they both will do the lean in the same day (getting greedy now!).
