I knew that already but we normally write our own words to the well known song.
I went to his gig in Edinburgh in the 70s.
I hate that I know the lyrics to this song so well I immediately started trying to write another verse in my head.

I really loved Van Morrison’s version he wrote it in the 60s and Laura Brannigan had a hit with it in the 80s I believe.

I’m pretty sure Laura Brannigan’s hit was a completely different song. Might be easier to adapt for Florian for though.
Of course Van Mortison’s is the better song musically.

Dear Mods, Please forgive me, but I just can’t let this go unanswered.
“Gloria” by the Northern Irish band Them, whose lead singer, Van Morrison went on to worldwide fame, is one of the greatest garage rock songs ever written. It’s visceral energy and lust fuelled vigour was a precursor to Punk and, due to its three chord simplicity, it’s been covered by thousands of bands since. The best cover is by Patti Smith, who weaves religious imagery into the profane lyrics and creates something at least equal to the original.
That Laura Brannigan (who?) song is a piece of lame eighties pop rock that should never be mentioned in the same breath.
I’m quite upset and need to lie down and do my breathing exercises.

I was on a much smaller forum back in the day when the Bent stories were dong the rounds. That place was small enough that it was much harder to miss that something you wanted to share had already been shared. The Bent sign joke had already been made several times when a third guy pops up to do it again, but this time he posts the pic with the caption “Bent signs for Liverpool”
“Fishy, I dont think you understand what the joke is supposed to be do you?”
