Florian Wirtz (AM) Bayer Leverkusen

Strangely, he looks kind of like a woman. Might have trouble passing the medical.

Have you met many women?

He’s what the gays call a “twink”.

Sounds like an Arsenal song.

I googled it, one of those things I didn’t know I needed to know. Until now, I’d only heard the term “twink” in the gaming world.

I actually read this as he wouldn’t sign his contract until half past eight!

Morning all, sat in work thinking this feels like a good day to smash a club transfer record. Got that Florian Friday Feeling.

Still struggling to believe this is actually happening

It’s at the back of my mind that they are going to say, “Fooled you. Here’s Steven Caulker!”

From the BBC live transfer feed

Premier League champions Liverpool are who Florian Wirtz settled on for his next career move. But in an interview with German publication Kicker, Borussia Dortmund chief executive officer Hans-Joachim Watzke said he would have preferred to see the Germany international remain in the Bundesliga.

“It’s a real shame that a player like Florian Wirtz is leaving the Bundesliga,” Watzke said. “I wouldn’t have had a problem at at all if he had gone to Bayern Munich.

> "That would have been better for the Bundesliga.”

German title winners Bayern did try and tempt the 22-year-old to join them but according to the club’s director of sport, Max Eberl, the fee for Wirtz was ultimately too high.

“I don’t know whether we would have been able to pay the price that Liverpool would have had to pay,” Eberl told the German media.

Sums up the main problem with the Bundesliga.

Funny, I didn’t see Dortmund rush to keep players in the Bundesliga. Although I can see why that might have been the preferred option for Borussia Dortmund, as it means less money for Bayer.
