To be honest it already seems to have come down in price from what was being suggested some weeks ago.
I don’t think we want to go above Caiciedo’s record, then again I have a feeling this is all about how much is paid up front rather than the deal itself now.
Only reason it doesn’t happen is if he does a Zubimendi but he seems a rather odd guy who is repeating his position of last summer again, his look out mind as he’s already missed out on a PL title.

I think it’s just coming up to two weeks isn’t it? And I think it’s quite unusual for Liverpool to have a transfer conducted in public like this. We’re just not used to a saga.

Sounds like it needs to be 105 base plus 13m in addons from what I’m reading. So this will be a new UK transfer record of 118m, beating out the Caicedo record.
Look at this point, we’re past the point of no return so I expect Liverpool to pay up. 5m should not be the sticking point to bringing in a generational player who has already agreed to contract terms and would elevate our club to the next level.
We’re talking about serious challenge for the CL trophy, not just league title 21, although of course that is going to be another objective after securing Wirtz.

I understand not wanting to pay more. But at the time we paid the world record defender fee for VVD and the world record keeper fee for Alisson. Nobody regrets the extra money spent now. They were totally worth the fees. I’m hoping the same will hold true for Wirtz. Slot has made him his #1 target for a reason so I have faith this deal will work out great for us and bring the fans much joy to see Wirtz playing for Liverpool this upcoming season.
