Golf! What a great way to 'waste' 4 hours

I was going say calibrating distances is beyond me.

I am thinking of moving from the range soon mind

Was down at the range this evening and i took my 5 and 7 down with me as was advised by someone else that i should get used to them. Driver too ofcourse.

Fucking hard sport.

Wild stuff this final day. Ciganda looks like she might have just won it for Europe with some sensational golf

She just has. Quality from her.

Good come back

She looked to be falling apart down the back 9 giving away a decent lead with some bad golf. For her to lift herself from that and hit shots of that quality on the last 2 holes with the entire trophy on the line was just sensational

Great couple of holes from Hedwall to turn her match around.
Fitting that Ciganda won the match to retain the cup on her home soil.

One bunch of Americans sent home empty handed, now for the next lot.

Good start all 4 taken.

I am having to watch the Ryder Cup with the sound turned right down which is a shameā€¦but the buffoons (mainly yanks I would guess) screaming ā€œin the holeā€ as they tee off on a par 4 or 5 are doing my head inā€¦ morons

hardest part to get used to, is to keep head still over your target (ball) and that everything rotates around your spine. If you have ever seen that robot club tester, the club path is quite linear. trying to emulate that is the hard part

a solid stance and good balance is key. My kidā€™s swing has improved this summer, heā€™s close to 150y with the driver but he still struggles with irons off the mat so I have him using the shortest possible tee to practice bringing the club head back to the ball smooth. still a lot of baseball in that swing (back elbow)

BIG fight back on the cards here. It was not just the 4-0 this morning, but at one point these fourballs looked like they might have gone 3-1 or something close. Theyā€™ll be looking now to come in at 5-3 and to have been at one point looking at a possible 6 point deficit to be down by only 2 will be a big boost for the US.

they keep missing putts though, and itā€™ll be tough to claw back points.

Homa and Clark both missing 10ft putts on 15.

fucking hell. Rahm is on :fire:

And they didnā€™t win a single match :smile:

In the hole indeed :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Good use of the reverse jinx, Europe extends by one.

Tgats what makes this format so entertaining. Good golf down the stretch from the 3 euro sides but even better entertainment

True, itā€™s always an enjoyable watch.

Played that round today, and absolutely loved it. Had a rough few holes (5th-9th, losing 4 balls) but back 9 i got it working and didnt lose a single ball. Played stableford and scored 8ā€¦pretty shit but a starting marker.

@Limiescouse i ended up using the 7 iron a lot, as you suggested might be the way to go.

Funny thing is this is the exact advice I was given when I was learning. The guy who taught me used to fight me to allow me to take 3 or 4 clubs out with me. But to me I just wanted to twat the ball and it wasnt a ā€œfunā€ way to play golf. It took me a long time to realize that spending your entire day looking in the rough for a ball that went 100 miles in the wrong direction wasnt fun either :joy:
