As I’m going to find out next week.
Entered a local prestigious scratch matchplay competition, where the upper handicap criteria was 5.4.
I just made it in.
Drawn against a +2 player, serious arse kicking coming my way, but I entered for the experience of playing players of that level, not because of any hope of winning it.
And one of them, Spieth, went from looking like he was likely to win every one he entered over. 2-3 span but has fallen off a cliff to the point that he’s largely irrelevant to leaderboards now and has been for a few years
It is, very.
Played in my club championship qualifying round a couple of years back
Wasn’t playing well, and walked off 11 having just 4 putted to go 8 over (playing off 8 at the time).
Played the last 7 holes in 2 under.
Rahm got close, but with Scheffler having a few holes to spare where he could make a birdie, Rahm needed to push it, and he was either going to make Scheffler sweat, or unfortunately, fall back a bit as it blew up.
I think he could have coasted to second place, but for a player at his level, if he not winning it, it neither here nor there if he is runner up or top ten.
Scheffler was impressive, but I would have liked him to feel more pressure from someone, to at least add some drama to the proceedings.
Really bizarre experience last night.
Playing knockout stages of my handicap club championship.
Opponent turned up and I swear I could smell drink on him.
He wasn’t drunk, but continued drinking all the way round.
NEVER seen that in an official club match before, only on boys outings
I’ve seen it plenty. Little drink here and there, little joint here and there. I knew a guy that used to take a blast of his bifta every time he holed and was making his way to the next tee.
But it does depend on the club - there seems a middle ground of super strict from what I’ve seen, with the elitest clubs sometimes being more relaxed.
