Golf! What a great way to 'waste' 4 hours

My take on the crowds is a combo of a few things. Too much bad behavior, definitely, so that’s the bottom line. In addition to that, culturally things are plumbing new depths as to what is acceptable or not, for example the MC chant against Rory. Then besides the general cultural thing, New York is a boisterous place, so whatever is in play, it tends to be a bit more feisty there. And finally, America is getting battered, so it is bringing out the worst in some.

Massive point shared for Fitzpatrick moves within a point of victory of a halve of retaining.

Last 4, three are tied.

Hatton does it…

Out of all the US sporting losses and they are piling up under his presidency this will sting the most.

It got a bit too close for comfort but in the end Europe got it over the line. Hatton is a good red, apparently, which made me happy he got the half.

It was two brilliant days, then a big comeback and some of our top players looked mentally drained e.g. Rahm, and some way off the level they showed the previous two days.

Getting the win at 14.5 was much better than merely retaining at 14.0. Then getting to 15 points with MacIntrye was good, because otherwise they might have whined about Hovland getting half a point for withdrawing.

To win the Ryder Cup away from home is a brilliant achievement. To do it with such a partisan, and often unfair crowd, made it even better.

I personally hate how politics inserts itself into sport, in particular Trump, and MAGA. That added ingredient made me want to beat the Americans all the more, and I am delighted that Europe prevailed. As all the New Yorkers buggered off home, ungraciously, before the end, it was lovely to see a little football-style chant go up, “Are you watching Donald Trump?”

I hope he enjoyed it.

The loon will probably now try to annex Ireland as the 51st state or something :joy:

So Rory’s wife was hit by a beer at one stage, at the fucking golf?!?

what was all the vulgar stuff about Rory and his wife? whats the context i litterally have no idea?

The US crowd took rowdiness at the golf to amazing new heights, and resorted to heckling etc whilst players were about to take their shots.

McIlroy and Lowry copped the brunt of it, and I read this morning that McIlroy’s wife was copping constant abuse as well.

So happy Europe won. Congrats on overcoming this shit show. So much for the gentleman’s game.

I see some are linking to Trump but the reality is the poor USA crowd behaviour at Ryder Cups ain’t new.

The next one in Europe will be interesting. Hope the crowd don’t reciprocate.

They won’t. There will some in Irish crowd that have too much drink on board and are boisterous (I’m hoping to be one of them), but the boorish, arrogant, personally abusive stuff is an American thing.
