Golf! What a great way to 'waste' 4 hours

So it’s in Ireland. Might join you….

It would be great…few casuals on the 18th asking a few lads in check trousers if they “want some”.

Arsenal are second again!

At what point does it no longer make sense to hold this event in the US? May as well take the Saudi money and have decently-behaved crowds at a neutral venue.

Get ready for the whataboutism - related to my previous comment. It is always hostile for the americans in Europe. But that means jeering them as they approach their ball, loudly celebrating their bad shots, crowd chants designed to get under the skin. But what they wont do is continue to jeer them once the player has addressed the ball, which was a recurring problem this week. The chants will be banter stuff like Cantley refusing to wear the US cap because he wasnt getting paid…not gross shit about a player’s wife. And then US golf fans will point to hostile atmosphere and refuse to see the difference with how their crowds always react

Yeah spot on. Many don’t seem to understand the line between sports banter and being abusive pricks.

Scottie was complaining about getting stick at The Open. I was there. The worst it got was one guy singing “Rory’s gonna get ya”

And we all know that was you.

Really good response here and goes back to the idea that they dont have a collective fan culture to lean on in situations like this. They are left with only 2 options. One is tedious generic shit like “let’s go scottie, clap clap clap clap clap, lets go scottie”, the exact same shit wine mums will do at their 6 year old’s tee ball game, something that inspires no one. Or two, individuals just yelling personal attacks at the opponents that then escalates pretty quickly into inappropriateness through one upsmanship among the crowd. The result was their players get no lift from any of it. I would bet if you asked Justin Thomas he’d say he was negatively affected in saturday afternoon’s match by the amount of energy he had to put into trying to get the crowd to let Rory play.

And we all know I was wrong!

Justin Thomas seems to be one of the good guys. Was impressed in his interviews at how he gave credit to his playing partners and opponents

Delighted that Europe won….

It would have been an injustice any other way.

I’m genuinely not sure. Most of these guys are pretty Trumpy as a Demo, and we see Bradley represent that with not just an eager welcoming of Trump on day 1, but trying to liven things up with the Trump jerk off dance. But JT he handled himself admirably under challenging circumstances so even if he’s just the normal American golfer in his attitudes he does deserve credit for the way he handled himself this weekend.

Pretty strong words from Rory. And spot on.

Absolutely mad that Rory, and Lowry when he was playing with him, was repeatedly forced to police this shit himself

Americans: But what about Rome? Do you not remember them making fun of Cantley not wearing a hat?

Maybe 10 is too low but you have no cut so at most the top 20 should get it and if I am honest because it’s a selective competition I think 10 is right.
