Golf! What a great way to 'waste' 4 hours

If Tommy or Bob don’t win this, my preference would be Sam Burns.
He was unlucky at this years US Open, and got shafted at last years.

Sam off to a solid start. Told the wife that he probably feels very free and easy about his game, since he got to see his new daughter born, and could play. No expectations, just go have fun. Also, he’s been playing really well these past couple years.

Rooting for Tommy myself, even if he is a blue. Just a good bloke, and would be awesome for him to win so close to home.

Yep, I’m on the Tommy bus too. Lovely putt just a bit ago, for birdie.

I love it. Paraphrase.”he is a Cnut and a cheating Cnut”

We will see 100 examples of “cheating”, bending the rules, faking injury, ref intimidation, abuse and other shithousery in the WC final tomorrow. All good.

But not in golf.

Bryson breached the rules - whether intentional or not. Same outcome with the 2 shot penalty. But his reputation has taken a hit. Patrick Reed is still smeared. But that’s golf etiquette that they are aware of.

For what it’s worth I think he deliberately tried to make his swing easier. It will be interesting to see how he is judged in future.

What exactly is the charge? That he trampled down the grass behind his ball and that freed up the path for his backswing?

Yes.

And it’s a no no in golf even though I see this sort of stuff every week in my golf comp.

So it’s such an obvious reality that he did exactly what is charged that I don’t understand the furor. This rough has a material impact on your swing in ways that won’t be true of most courses these guys play and that means you have a heightened responsibility when approaching your ball.

He knows his Judo well…

Scheffler, Burns and Fleetwood all having trouble.
Meanwhile Kim holes from off the green to take the lead

100% deliberate

Scheffler imploded

That’s a bullshit ruling Scherff got. To take someone’s word ball was in the obstruction? Ball has to be found, and within the 5 minute limit. Crazy how many shots these guys save because of all the infrastructure on these courses. Scottie got another break on 18 with a bounce off the fence for patrons.

Fox. One putt for glory.

Edit
Boom. Birdie on 18 and he did it. Half way there it thought about veering left but kept on line.

Well done that man.

What a finish from Fox, says to mother on the phone “I don’t know how I hit that last putt”

Brilliant Open Champion and from NZ, will be brilliant for NZ golf.

I put more care into preparing for a put to break 80 than he put into that. What an incredible way to play such a huge final hole

He was like a frog in a box waiting to take the putt
