Guehi is verifiably terrible in the air, though.
Thanks for taking the time to enlighten me.
I don’t get involved with anything outside LFC these days and German football has never been of interest to me.
I’ll still wait and see what our new arrivals can do.
As for Quansah he has potential and he needed a new club after his lack of playing time this last season. It’s best for him.
I hope we can find someone to replace him.
Our lot had to back Trent up. So any particular deficiencies with Guehi shouldn’t be that big an issue.
I don’t mind him. I think he’s an upgrade over Quansah. We need to give Virgil the rest as well too.
Guehi is unlikely to come here to be back up.
Secondly, if we are sticking with a back four, its unlikely to be Trent he is replacing but Konate (or Virgil) who are our strongest headers of the ball.
It might be possible to mitigate for that weakness (if the stats are accurate) but probably not with the players we have with for example Jeremie and Kerkez at full back are not towering CBs. And I’m not sure our midfielders are all that dominant in the air either.
With the situation over Konate and Gomez’s injury prone nature. He will be the second CB by the time the next season comes.
Konate isn’t injury prone.
He won’t be there after this season. I meant that and Gomez’s injury prone nature.
I was referring to all the rogue messages to questionable, publicity hungry sex workers.
Personally I never minded what he said about Matip, although many took exception to that, given his position in the squad at the time.
I like him as a player, thought the writing was on the wall for him as soon as Gomez played every minute at cb during Konate’s spell on the sideline. Think he’ll do really well with regular minutes in Germany and a lot of the bad luck he had this season will pass. He’d be verging on cult hero status if that header against PSG at Anfield had gone in.
Healthy competition, a new injection of quality, is more than welcome.
Virgil is 34 next month, Konate played 40+ games for the first time since he’s here and has a year left (with no reported progress on a potential agreement), Quansah’s current level (and possibly ceiling from a club point of view) is questionable for us and looks like he’s going, Gomez is Gomez.
Don’t think Guehi needs to be told anything like yes you will be a starter or no you won’t be.
Come in and compete, it’s not impossible to stay in the team if you get a chance and do well. Quansah got that chance as soon as last year’s pre-season and season opener, but didn’t take it. Konate then I think grew in Slot’s eyes.
Next summer, we might need 2 CB’s (or at least?) if we don’t bring 1 this summer.
What sex workers? What did he say about Matip? Why haven’t I heard about any of this?
Just realized that Jarell will be playing under ETH
Ah right I wasn’t aware of that.
Evidently whatever happened with Slot we will only ever get one side unless Slot publishes his memoirs one day.
He became unreliable and really never looked the level he did last season whether one or the other is his true level is anyone’s guess.
Didn’t really help that Konate had probably his best season. But yeah the Gomez playing instead. Saying that Gomez comes in a fit seemless if he had persisted with the Quansah we saw after the situation at Ipswich the title may not have been coasted too.
That’s my feeling as well. As a natural consequence, the lad’s confidence nosedived, and this season was hard for him. Still, I think he could have a future here, and I’m not sure that letting him go away at this stag is a good move for us.
As @rab said, he’s homegrown and can hold his own as a third or fourth center back. So, the whole question is if there is a talented CB in our youth ranks who can maybe take up the mantle.
(Where’s @Sweeting when you need him? )
It seems that all failures at United tend to do well when they leave. We will soon find out if ETH is actually any good.
I’m not googling ‘Quansah sex workers’.
I just did! Nothing.
Some old stuff about texting a 17 year old girl. Seemed consensual and respectful. Move on?
P.s. I did it for the team and had vpn on and have now deleted search history!
So who is weird?
A, The young footballer who never had anything to do with a sex worker
Or
B, The bloke on the internet who made up unsubstantiated stories about a young footballer having something to do with sex workers
You decide.
Mate, don’t come at me just because you’re not chronically and obsessively online, seeing all events unfold in real time at the expense of your own personal relationships and mental health.
