Looks like Quansah is out to Leverkusan and we’ll move quickly to replace him. Guehi appears to be our replacement target. That’s gonna be a nice upgrade.
Really glad to hear about the buyback clause. I still think, with ample first team minutes and starts, he will become a top centre back!
Those buy back clauses very rarely get activated, clubs and players just go down different paths. Plus, sometimes clubs activate it only to sell the player in the same window for a profit. Sometimes it’s better to negotiate a buy back clause, sometimes a future %, sometimes just milking as much money as possible. Most probably won’t get activated, but I agree it’s positive that it’s there.
I agree, he has been lambasted for his errors but both Virg and Konate have committed a few errors the season just finished, it happens to all CB’s, especially when a team plays out from the back.
Pleased that we have a buy-back clause in there. I’ve said all season that Quansah needs more games, and that he’s clearly talented, but hasn’t had enough top level games to iron out the flaws in his game. Where we are regarding VVD in two years time, Konate and Gomez, if Quansah has an excellent couple of seasons, I could see a world where we’d bring him back.
You’re right, I can’t remember us ever using a buyback clause to bring anyone back. But I suppose there can be a first time for everything.
Agree with most here, the buy back for what it is worth is a good idea, don’t think we have given up on him yet, think it was loss of confidence as much as anything.
Being reported by Sky Germany that our buy-back clause is only a little more than we sold him for, 40m euros.
That’s insane lol.
I also wouldn’t want to jump if my name sounded like a dodgy curry.
Could have a validity period like within 2 seasons.
Makes it like a loan with a put option.
It’s better than a loan. We get a wad of transfer cash, his wages are off the books, if he makes the required standard and wants to rejoin, we get a cheap signing, otherwise we have the money in the bank.
I hope he does succeed. Have we ever re-signed a player on a buy back clause? (I don’t count Rush or Fowler in that)
Indeed. Hence the like…with a put option
what’s a put option?
an option to sell (usually a security like a share) at a preagreed set price before (or on) a certain date.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano explained: “Bayer Leverkusen accept the fact that Liverpool can have control over the player in the future.
“If – in 2, 3, 4, 5 years – Liverpool decide to return and bring him back to Anfield, they can do it for a specific price with no need for negotiations, so it’d be automatic.”
i rate Quansah higher than most people on here and wont be in the least bit suprised to see him push on…absolute quality in my mind, needed to develop on a stage where people arent analising if he tied his shoe laces left over right or right over left…
good lake Jarrel, in a perfect world, we’ll see you again…if not, wish you the best for a big career
That’s the fee that’s been reported a few days ago by German journalists. It’s not a bad deal, I guess - one way to look at it, in case Quansah lights up Bundesliga, is that Leverkusen get a good player for a few years and Liverpool pay 20 million euros for his development.
