Nothing. I was referring to the fact I’m not surprised where Fowler is now but I am hoping Jordan has higher principles given his stated support for equality issues.
No what I’m saying is people, especially supporters are quick to jump when the opportunity exists, yet jump on the moral bandwagon at other times. I personally have no time for the entire Middle Eastern petro dollars but plenty do.
With all due respect, please let’s not pretend we are Jordan Henderson and that he’s got enough to ignore 4x his current salary. Being 33, in the final part of his career and thinking bigger picture of his and his family’s future. Of course what he currently earns is enough, but it’s not from “our” perspective and nor it should be.
It’s decision time. He cannot wait until he can barely run anymore. This offer might not be on the table anymore in a few weeks, in a year, in a few years. I also think or thought that he would rather stay. Try and respond, play a better season, go to Germany with England (although he maybe had a word with Southgate how it would possibly impact it, he might still go). See what’s the options when he has a year left.
As for the things he stands for, said or did in the past, it’s certainly not the first nor the last time there’s some contradiction in football. We can be almost sure that Hendo would make it sound like it’s still all perfectly aligned to what he believes in, or maybe go in a “everyone should be given a chance to change and I’m there to bring positive change” direction.
My advice is: look at football (especially the top level) with less sense of tribalism. Sure, there are levels and differences, but we will be less surprised or shocked. If it leads to some of us falling out of love with some individuals or football overall, then it is how it is. I’ve stopped looking at it too dramatically like when I was a 10 or 15 year old kid.
Absolutely, and there is nothing to add to this.
Let’s see what Hendo’s decision is, but 700k/week… Jesus H Christ…
Klopp arriving for preseason:
John Henry five minutes before Klopp arrives for preseason
Said it before this could be part of a strategy where they drive player wages up without putting money into the pockets of clubs unless they are affiliated in some way, potentially reducing their ability to compete in the future.
Yes.
He is like Rashford insofar as they both voice dissaproval and act positively for inequality and discriminatory issues.
They both refused to go to Qatar for the World Cup…
Or did they?
Should the whole squad have refused to head out to Qatar for the CWC then and instead prioritised the league cup against Villa?
Yes
Ok.
So in affect the whole squad and management team are a bunch of hypocrites
then aren’t they assuming they all share the same concept (whether they’ve voiced it publicly or not) and are against the HR culture there despite their professional calling on them to play a mini tournament there.
Of course.
But I can accept that FIFA put them in an awkward situation, both in the CWC and the World Cup by hosting events in Qatar. I wish we would have rejected the invitations but I get that it wasn’t their choice to play there.
This situation is a player choosing to become part of the sportwashing campaign of a dictatorial monarchy which makes it slightly different.
This wasn’t Qatar though, was it? Some were executed for holding “deviant beliefs” .
You know that’s not the answer.
But feel free to interpret things your way.
Its a growing trend in the world.
Great explanation and answer…
Won’t land where it should, but you tried.
So are you categorising Qatar as the lesser of 2 evils then when comparing to what Saudi do?
Haven’t’ Qatar carried out executions of their own? Granted on a smaller scale but then they are a tenth of the country in population.
What do you think would’ve happened to those 81 men if they were found guilty of those very crimes of a high court in Qatar?

Fabrizio Romano reporting that we have asked for a fee of GBP 10M.
For reasons of:
- He has two years left on his contract,
- His player profile (EPL winner, UCL winner),
- What the Saudis can afford, and, importantly
- What it will cost to replace him
That fee is a joke
What it will cost to replace him
It will cost much more than £10m to replace him.
Fabrizio Romano reporting that we have asked for a fee of GBP 10M
A suspiciously low figure given what we know about our club’s selling strategy.
I wish we would have rejected the invitations but I get that it wasn’t their choice to play there.
So the players and staff were forced against their will to play that CWC in Doha were they? You always have a choice in life and that day they chose to participate in the CWC over the league cup. What’s the worst UEFA would’ve done, ban us from all European competition for a year and fine the club 10k?
For those that disapprove that decision they took, then by definition it makes the entire staff and employees hypocrites.
The club can reject to deal with Saudi for our players can’t they or are they forced to? It won’t stop any of us from continually supporting though will it otherwise what are we all doing here.
