Jordan Henderson (CM) to Al-Ettifaq

In effect yes. If it were me making the decisions I would have rejected the invitation/call up but I can see that the club and players probably felt that they were professionally and contractually obligated to play in those events.

But yes, its at best morally ambiguous and I was vocally disappointed in the decision to play at the time.

I assume if we only want that much then we probably only need that much for err another deal.

Especially most paid upfront.

You are over simplifying.

Maybe read @Sweeting response properly

This paragraph nearly describes America!
Obviously we can outline why it is different, but it made me think, when I read it.

Murders journalists? Not yet, but Trump is on the record as wanting to take a step in that direction, definitely with beatings.

Steal natural resources? Check. Manifest destiny, it’s ours now!

Arrests people for sexual preference? Many states have recently slipped back in rights afforded to the lgbt community, some quite dramatically so.

Enforces draconian religious laws on women? Supreme Court just overturned 50+ years of established precedent.

Tortures and executes people? Off site, definitely e.g. Guantanamo. Plus various CIA sites and such. And we have execution by the State here, as a form of justice.

Anyway, don’t mean to derail a solid post. The Saudi government is reprehensible, no two ways about it.

The new reality setting in is causing fans to wrestle with the whole thing morally, especially when we see some of our former greats go there, plus recent greats (Firmino) and possibly current too (Hendo, probably others to come).

Ultimately for me, it’s difficult to expect football to hold the line in dealing with Saudi, when government, defence, and assorted companies, routinely do business there.

Jordan may have already asked to leave… LFC know if they ask for a high fee the deal will probably fold - By asking the Arabs for £10m, they won’t have to ask Jordan to buy out his remaining contract
If the guy wants to go… let him go and be decent about it… the guy has been a good servant to the club. Whatever reason he has put forward to Jurgen, could be as simple as his family are main priority now, LFC and his past views, come in second OR, his heel problem has returned and he can claim £700k a week resting up :0)

I think by asking for 10m , the buying club might well say to Henderson that we’ll deduct 200k from your salary per week till the amount is paid off.

My take on reasons why Henderson might leave:

  1. Money

  2. Diminishing role in the side (pending outcome of conversation with Klopp)
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    Long gap to:

  3. Chance to link up with Stevie

  4. New experience in the sunshine

In other words, while the money is obviously a reason, I do think his (potential) diminishing role will be a big factor too, should he leave.

Yeah, some of it does. I don’t want investment from Trump either.

Man City have sold a player from their u23s to southampton for 10 million.

How the fuck Liverpool’s captain and an English international could be similar. 40 million them cunts are throwing money about the place, let’s not be frugile with transfer fees when we are paying average players 700k a week

Jordan Henderson has agreed to join Al Ettifaq, Klopp gave the green light. -

Jordan Henderson has accepted Al Ettifaq proposal. There’s an agreement in principle, still verbal. Contract agreed. Deal now depends on Liverpool and Al Ettifaq discussing on the fee, no chance to let him leave for free !Hendo spoke to Klopp today and there’s green light.

Expect to see Van Dijk, Trent and Salah follow now, they cannot fuction without their glorious leader.

Very surprising. I pegged Hendo as the sort who takes the responsibility of his status seriously.

Maybe do a testimonial match next summer for Hendo to get a proper goodbye, if it can’t be done this summer due to works going on and lack of time.

money seriously changes people’s status

Well, I for sure did not see that coming before yesterday.

I wish him well because he has been a good servant to us and an excellent captain but as a pure footballer I think we are better off with Szoboszlai in his place.

Lets wait and see. Romano has history of getting excitable sometimes and not confirming his story properly.
