In effect yes. If it were me making the decisions I would have rejected the invitation/call up but I can see that the club and players probably felt that they were professionally and contractually obligated to play in those events.
But yes, its at best morally ambiguous and I was vocally disappointed in the decision to play at the time.
Arrests people for sexual preference? Many states have recently slipped back in rights afforded to the lgbt community, some quite dramatically so.
Enforces draconian religious laws on women? Supreme Court just overturned 50+ years of established precedent.
Tortures and executes people? Off site, definitely e.g. Guantanamo. Plus various CIA sites and such. And we have execution by the State here, as a form of justice.
Anyway, don’t mean to derail a solid post. The Saudi government is reprehensible, no two ways about it.
The new reality setting in is causing fans to wrestle with the whole thing morally, especially when we see some of our former greats go there, plus recent greats (Firmino) and possibly current too (Hendo, probably others to come).
Ultimately for me, it’s difficult to expect football to hold the line in dealing with Saudi, when government, defence, and assorted companies, routinely do business there.
Jordan may have already asked to leave… LFC know if they ask for a high fee the deal will probably fold - By asking the Arabs for £10m, they won’t have to ask Jordan to buy out his remaining contract
If the guy wants to go… let him go and be decent about it… the guy has been a good servant to the club. Whatever reason he has put forward to Jurgen, could be as simple as his family are main priority now, LFC and his past views, come in second OR, his heel problem has returned and he can claim £700k a week resting up :0)
Man City have sold a player from their u23s to southampton for 10 million.
How the fuck Liverpool’s captain and an English international could be similar. 40 million them cunts are throwing money about the place, let’s not be frugile with transfer fees when we are paying average players 700k a week

Jordan Henderson has accepted Al Ettifaq proposal. There’s an agreement in principle, still verbal. Contract agreed. Deal now depends on Liverpool and Al Ettifaq discussing on the fee, no chance to let him leave for free !Hendo spoke to Klopp today and there’s green light.
Well, I for sure did not see that coming before yesterday.
I wish him well because he has been a good servant to us and an excellent captain but as a pure footballer I think we are better off with Szoboszlai in his place.
