Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid)

The more I’m reading about this, the more I think it is happening. Bellingham is signing.

Musah would be excellent too. Not sure he would play right now though, if he came here. Tough one. Leave him at Valencia for another year or two? But then he is probably a 100M player. But sign him now? And the final part of his development might be stunted if he doesn’t start here.

Musah. Caicedo. Kone. We need someone like that. Add Bellingham and Elliott, and yes, I completely agree. That midfield will shit em for years to come!

Gini didn’t leave over money. He experienced a slow but clear evolution of the side away from him, saw a contract that reflected his lesser importance to the side and had his head turned by a manager who was far more bullish on him that Klopp was. Gini might have played a lot in his final season, but that was more out of necessity than priority. Remember, going as far back as the Barca semi, the game he is most remembered for, he didn’t start that game despite us having several first team players unavailable (Divok and Shaq starting). By the time the Barca move fell through he’d already made his position at the club untenable and we’d already moved on.

Read this after I responded to @redfanman. By referring to Gini, you did in my opinion compare them.
However, its not a massive issue. As you have followed up, there have been many young players, like SWP who have been seen to join teams for better wages ahead of their own development. Maybe so, but at that age you would be stupid not to look at the financial security this offers you. However, if you had the chance to train with World Class players on a daily basis, learning from the best and maybe even from a personal perspective, who am I to judge them?

SWP backed himself and it didnt work out the way he hoped. But at least he tried. Most people are content to sit on their backside taking the easy way out rather than testing themselves and shooting for glory. Sure, how well he was compensated mitigated the risk, but what glory was he ever going to get playing for a midtable city.

People follow this path because they have dreams. SWP was given the opportunity to chase them or be content with what he’d already achieved. Criticizing him for going for it is an attitude I just cannot get my head around.

Sorry, turned by a manager more bullish on him than Klopp was…are you referring to Koeman? His former international manager….
To suggest the reason for him not starting the Barca game is down to other players being favoured, out of the 3 players (Gini/Shaq/Div) who started the final? Ignoring Gini’s injury, Out of the 3 players, who would you want back? Or more importantly who would provide more to the squad?
To suggest he had made his position untenable is really not true.

Completely agree with the points you raise. However, please quote my whole statement. The paragraph you have quoted from my message does not reflect the context of my post.

I wasn’t slagging Gini off, he was an excellent signing for us and I hold no grudges about him leaving.

:+1:t2: Nor do I.

I wasn’t slagging SWP off either, just pointing out that in moving to Chelsea for the big bucks probably cost him a very valuable international career.

Course he is

Again, I agree. People like SWP, Walcott, Sinclair will be seen by some to be chasing the money. I respect any human being who is confident to back themselves. We are not privy to the reasons why a certain player joins a certain club. We mainly relate it to financial reasons, but there are so many more factors.
As I alluded to, if a player was given the opportunity to join a team on great wages, with no assurances of first team football but to train everyday with players of the calibre of (using Chelsea as an example) Terry, Lampard, Carvahllo, Robben, Drogba, Ballack, etc, who am I to judge.

Referring to your original post. I completely agree that if Jude signed for us or another team on a lower salary than what other clubs were offering then it would earn my respect.

I personally believe this is now done and will be completed in January.

Im glad you agree :+1:

I was at our works Christmas do last night. The majority of my immediate colleagues are Dortmund fans. They were trying to calculate how much they could reduce ticket prices by if they sold Bellingham for a gazillion Euros. Priorities, eh?

Correct, based off other comments in the forum and in the media. That’s all anyone has to form an opinion on unless they’re close to the action. I’m not saying I believe all the negative comments made by his club and others surrounding him, however that is the impression I get from the guy from the little I have to go by. At the very least if it came down to who scores highest on the ‘dickheadometer’ he would by far and away outscore Jude.
I agree with you regarding his obvious talent and Klopp getting the best out of him.

Haven’t been reading closely in the last few days but where does the ‘Bellingham will join next month’ stuff come from.

There’s now way Dortmund will sell him midseason.

Let’s see if he tells the truth.

Personally think it’s between us and City… Real will go for Enzo.

Christian Falk did a podcast with the The Anfield Wrap yesterday and said the player, his family (his brother is his agent) etc want him to go to Liverpool and talks have been going on a while. CL is not a factor. He wants to work with Klopp. Dortmund know he is leaving at end of season.

Its pretty much done (as much as pretty much done is in football) LFC just have to thrash out a price but he wont be coming in Jan as Dortmund need to qualify for CL for financial reasons.

I think after losing out on the guy who went to Real, LFC wont lose this player as they will go all out for him.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bellingham wants to come to LFC but I’m still very sceptical that he will end up here. We will probably offer him a decent salary… not one like he could get at Real Madrid or ManCity, but a good one nonetheless. So from a “desire to come here” perspective… there is some risk but I think we can convince him.

I’m more concerned about getting outpriced for him - in which case the ball’s out of his court because I don’t think Bellingham would do things to force a transfer. I could see us willing to go up to £100M.

But what if ManCity offers £140m? In that case Dortmund is unlikely to accept £100M and we are unlikely to go higher.

I’m fairly sure the ball is entirely in Jude’s court when it comes to him signing a contract… If we are out bid by another club, but Jude doesn’t fancy that club, he would still have a contract at Dortmund and can carry on. These are footballers, not houses or cattle at an auction whereby highest bidder gets him.

If Jude wants to come to Liverpool, we will sign him.

I don’t think that is as big a concern if the player doesn’t want to join them. A club can literally offer anything if they know they won’t get the player, any bid has to be what Dortmund believe they would actually have recieved.

Didn’t Spurs try something similar with Ings when it went to Tribunal - claiming they would have paid more or something?

As long as we can keep the gap relatively narrow between ourselves and other parties we should be OK.
