Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid)

Taking the piss and loads of cash off his cruel employers with them having not a chance of doing anything about it? Surely the socialist dream.

If that’s what you think socialism is it probably explains why you’re a Tory

I often think that many people on this forum check their sense of humour in at the welcome page.

Serious question: Are you this distasteful and antagonistic IRL away from the computer screen? I think you have mentioned, like me, you don’t believe in a god. After you and I are gone, given that we are not religious people, the only thing we influence (influencing science is a long shot for us) from our time on this world is how we have treated others and whether we have provided good or bad memories of us.

You may say right now you couldn’t give two fucks how you are remembered, and if that is the case I will just drop the subject. But I think you probably do, so I am swinging back around to the original question, and whether you are like this IRL? If no, well I think we all are much more obnoxious people behind a computer screen, so I can accept that. Maybe online forums are a nice place to channel this shit away from real people you care about, which is also a good thing. But if you answered yes, and you do care about how you will be remembered, then I think this attitude is kind of incompatible with good connotations.

EDIT: Sorry if this was a bit heavy, and I don’t mean any offence. Just trying to understand the angle. Also this is after reading the Race thread which I regret doing.

I come to this forum for a little light relief. Yes I’m a liverpool fan. I’d far rather people’s memories of me were of somebody with strong opinions and not afraid to voice them. Several members of my family have blocked me on FB and won’t talk to me face to face as they can’t stand my politics. Says far more about them IMHO.

Kufu’s pyramid. What a monument. How much does its existence today help his life lead thousands of years ago? Even if I did some amazing thing in my life, the statue built would be toppled by crazed students years after my death.

As for my concern for what people think about me, I have a sufficiently thick skin to be a right winger on a Liverpool forum. Makes me fractionally prickly at times I accept but that’s my fault. I could just keep quiet but that’s not my style.

Yes, if you ever met me, I’m exactly the same in person.

Wouldn’t the joke have to be, well… funny for this to be true?

You’re assuming that a sense of humour is only about appreciating jokes.

A 19 year old lad doesn’t need to be worrying about money.

Whether he goes to Madrid, City or comes here he’ll end up with 8 figures in his bank account by the time he’s retired.

The thing about Madrid is he’ll be their record signing and the pressure that comes with that. Look at the shit Bale, Hazard and others have had to deal with. I do think he will go straight into our highest earners bracket though.

I was wondering why Dele Alli is trending on twitter so checked it out and it’s actually an interesting 1 amongst the twitterati.

Jude now v Alli breaking out at Spurs…think we could all agree on Owen and Rooney.

Massive pressure at Real comes from the fact that they’re the biggest club in the world. Other massive signings have been huge successes there.

My reflex was to say that is absurd, but based on the prices being touted now then it would be. This puts a lot of Real’s recent spending in context (pretty much the post-James era) - been largely absent from the market in the post-Neymar shake up that saw prices sky rocket, and the work they have done has been largely anathema to the Galactico reputation they have. There are two conclusions to this:

  1. they have been keeping their powder dry ready to spend big when required
  2. they are more savvy in the market now and wont be led into a chase for the most expensive players.

Madrid just signed *Endrick Felipe for €72m he is only 16 years old and will not come to Madrid before he is 18 in 2024. They have no room in their squad for Bellingham (I hope :relieved:)

What position does Endrick play? Isn’t he a striker?

Yes. Given the players who play in Bellingham’s position are 37 and 32, and the only other players Real have in reserve are Valverde (who still plays as a forward a lot of the time) Camavinga and Arsenal flop Ceballos, it’s unlikely that 1) Real wont add another midfielder this summer, and 2) they will have a good amount of money to spend on one should they choose to.

Unless he gets injured before he secures that massive salary.

Could work the other way. If they can afford to spend 72m on a 16 year old (ridiculous btw, he’s played seven games for the first team) then surely they have more resources to get players who can play immediately?

Yeah, because people can tolerate adult discussions? NO BAN BAN BAN ALL DISCUSSIONS, I JUST NEED AN ECHO CHAMBER!!!

Once you ban and block, means you can’t discuss. Surely as a society, learned discourse is the way to progress. Nope, just my view there then.

Anyway, back to JB, take this elsewhere.
