Wouldnāt mind having a LCB as we do need some reinforcements with Matip/Gomez being injury prone but that wouldnāt mean that we play with a 3 CB formation. Robertson will do better with better legs in the midfield
Robbo certainly wasnāt poor last season.
The whole team was shit and complacent last season, he was a big part of that by constantly passing the ball to the opponent.
In previous seasons he was being quoted as best left back in the world! Currently smashing it as Scotland captain. Heāll be a guaranteed starter for the next 4-5 years
There were times when I wished Tsimikas needed some run of games though. But the failings of the team last year werenāt down to any of the defenders (despite some individual errors here and there)
I agree with the first two statements, I donāt the last. Letās see.
We love our shiny new toys and forget about our faithful old teddies
We also need proper squad depth and to stop burning out our top players, Robbo has played an insane amount of football in an incredibly demanding position. Iām sure that was a factor in his performances last season like a lot of the squad, although that doesnāt mean they werenāt poor (in my humble opinion).
Tsimi himself had some weak games last season, his stock dropped from the little āheās actually better than Robboā hype in 21/22. Iām generally still very happy to have both. High quality in that position, Iām not taking it for granted.
Colwill was not a regular starter for Brighton last season. Heās a fantastic prospect, one Iāve been touting since before he even went to Huddersfield, but I donāt think he would start ahead of Robertson yet. However, he (or another young LCB) may make the sale of Tsimikas possible as he sticks out like a sore thumb as someone who doesnāt fit the new formation.
Yep, thats why I clarified that Robbo would be rotating with him.
Still think if we signed Colwill by the end of the season heād be our starter, he is going to be an elite player.
Apparently, talks are progressing with the playerās representatives.

Oh he is as well!!! Never saw this before!!!
Nope. Wanted to pull the guys away from the LB/LCB discussions
Very subtle. Do you think theyāll notice?
Did his dad play left back?
Pearce:
After the successful pursuit of Szoboszlai, Niceās Khephren Thuram is no longer viewed as a target with Liverpool having decided the Hungary international was the better option.
I think a number of us suggested that possibility given the lack of urgency around the potential Thuram/ Kone deals.
I wonder who is Szoboszlaiās agent - as we didnt sign Gravenburch either!
